| Can tonights performance not be put down in the most part to the young age of some of the players on the pitch? Ward, Hood, McShane obviously all lack big match experience. Watkins, Hardaker, Jones Bishop and Clarkson have still only been in the side a year or in some cases two. Smith hasn't played a lot recently. Then factor in that Leuluai and Delaney seemed to do fair stints on the touchline and it is fairly clear why the side struggled. The pressure on Sinfield and Peacock to unite the team and bridge the gap between young and old was obvious. By playing narrower perhaps to compensate against some of the physiques of the younger guys, Huddersfield hit us on the wings. By playing wider to counterbalance they isolated the younger guys down the middle.
Ultimately the game has to be put down to a fantastic experience for some of the emerging stars in the side, but with Huddersfield playing some clinical rugby at times, the result wasn't surprising.

I just wondered where that impression was coming from.

Perhaps from you?
Quote: tvoc "I think Ablett does a decent enough job put he doesn't quite punch his weight for a big fella. I still see him as one of the 'blinkers' in the team.'" IMO that summary under rates the lad.

| What's a 'blinker'?
Ablett is a very good player. A bit behind the very best backrowers, but a player I wouldn't swap for too many. The same goes for JJB. IMO Leeds really lack a real line-breaking second row - and have for years except when a fit Ali was on the field. Having said that, there simply aren't too many of them about.

| It's a term that was used by Alan Smith in the early seventies to seperate the players that had the required intestinal fortitude from those that didn't quite.
Ablett, I sense, is more Ian Kirke than Barrie McDermott.
