Personally really don't agree with this. There's a salary cap in this sport for a reason yet the RFL, Wigan and Sky have found a way to boost his salary far beyond what Wigan can afford to pay him. All because he was tempted by some more money in union so we had to give in to his greed and find a way to keep him. Don't get me wrong he's a great player at club and international level and it would have been sad so lose him from the game but
a) its a massive bending of the rules to boost his salary,
b) if all he's interested in is more cash in his pocket then so be it let him go to union rather than still get paid a hell of a lot and play the game he loves.
I'd have the same opinion whatever club and whatever player was in this situation.

| Quote: Superted "Just been watching the sky coverage on the way to the match - now I've got no problems with Tomkins working on sky as a pundit, but the way they have just been talking about him being part of the team was frankly embarrassing. It was ass kissing of the highest order, completely cringeworthy and uncomfortable to watch. I don't know who they were trying to convince about the appointment of ST, but it was horrid watching.'"
I enjoyed it.
Seriously, lets wait and see.

| He may well be good to watch, just thought the hype an drooling from Eddie in particular was way OTT. It was embarrassing, and any new viewer to RL will have been wondering what on earth it was all about. It was like watching a 12 year old girl being told their favourite boyband were coming around for tea...

It's probably because it's suggested it's part of a deal to keep him at Wigan. Which seems unfair to all other clubs as does the RFL buying odslum. Lots of people have commented on that. So it's not just people moaning about Tomkin/Wigan as you are suggesting. Frankly I couldn't care if he stays or goes. NRL or union, SL is bigger than one player and the Wigan club.
I recon nobody cares about the job but why it's been done and why other teams wernt helped to keep key players.

Not outraged although I was disappointed Ben Westwood didn't get the gig.
