John Holmes - played full back, centre, stand off & second row.

Brilliant footballer, great tackler, sidestep ,could score tries & (in his earlier days) was a top goalkicker.

Also a great tactician with vast experience as a winner at both club & international level.

Good shout. For me he is distinctly average, but average at quite a few things. Jack of all trades

Ben Westwood

How can he be? He just a forward not know for fast hands, kicking, footballing brain or speed.

same way Benji Marshall has those things but not so much the strength, tackling and defence etc.

John Wilkin is a good exmple as he could play in every position on the pitch to a pretty decent level.

From Leeds it would have to be Sinfield.

Proficient at 6, 7, 9 & 13. Great tackler. Quick hands for the centres, good power for the SR. Would lack the grunt of a prop and the speed of a winger but you're not gonna find a player that literally has it all.

13 x Dave Taylor would take some beating.

Bigger than most props, faster than most backs, and the skills of a half back. He's played first grade in the centres, back row and prop, and played the majority of his time in the juniors at stand off. Look on the video site for his highlights - some sublime skills whilst still being an absolute monster. (he is prone to his lazy an error strewn days though)

I know it happened but I don't think it was a position he had designs on playing (obviously I appreciate you could put me straight on that impression.)

Perhaps it's because my only significant memory of John in that particular role was his sending off at Headingley V Barrow when he was making way for Andy Mackintosh.
