Whilst I really appreciate the rich heritage of Rugby League, indeed the very existence of RL is bound to force its followers to have a sharper sense of history than pretty much all other sports, sadly Wigan's dominant team of the late 80's early 90's registers only as a blip. Why? Because your success at the time was simply bought (at a very high price it seems - judging by your current position as second class tenants on your home midden).
Indeed celebrating your success and acknowledging your dominance from that time would be like putting any of the current Super League sides in the championship and gloating at the fact that they won all their games against the part time guys!
For me in the salary cap and full time professional era it makes more sense to of look at teams consistently competing on a (more) level playing field. That means the Super League era an era in which St Helens, Bradford and Leeds have truly dominated
