For the cynics amongst you - NO, I am not Matt Adamson, but a Rhinos fan & season ticket holder for almost 60 years.
I have watched the Rhinos (or Loiners as they were known) through good times and bad and the current situation at Headingley is dire to say the least.
I have just returned from Perpignan having witnessed another terrible performance from a team which appears to have lost all sense of purpose & direction - and what do I read coming from the club in the aftermath of yet another defeat ?
Players (Sinfield & Peacock) saying " We let the travelling supporters down" and " We are not playing smart enough" and our Head Coach saying " Our discipline let us down again ".
Wonderful words of wisdom which have been repeated week after week - yet nothing appears to be happening to fix things up.
Who is in charge of playing tactics/structures and who controls the team's discipline ?
Why is it that professional rugby players cannot make an accurate 5 yards pass to a colleague ?
Why has the club allowed 2 prop forwards to leave the club when our pack is being outplayed virtually every week ?
Why does our coach consistently select players out of position ?
When is the Coach going to stop making excuses for the team performances & accept some personal responsibility ?
The supporters were prepared to accept 2011 as a season of consolidation & re-building for the future, but instead we have gone into serious decline and the club's answer is to re-sign players who are past their best & were expected to be released at the end of this year.
Our season is virtually over already, yet we persist with the same players (who are not performing ) instead of taking the opportunity to give some valuable game time to the likes of Wilson & Singleton.
Why - when other SL clubs have already announced quality signings for 2012 from the NRL - have we heard nothing (other than vague rumours) about key recruitment for next season ?
McDermott's handling of Burgess, Cross, Hardaker, Pitts & Clarkson has been questionable to say the least and although outwardly he appears to have the support of the players, this is not reflected in their playing performances & body language.
My comments about Matt Adamson were genuine & I know he is very concerned about the club's decline - you may not agree that he is the right man for the job, but he would certainly be an improvement on our current coaching regime.'"
I agree mate, all season we've heard from the players we are ALL behind mc, well the performances don't suggest that at all, its not the losing, its the poor level of performances. We have some quality youngsters in bish, watkins, mcshane, clarkson, hardaker, but for us to see these players maximise their potenial Mc just isnt the man to get the best out of them. Mcshane played 18mins on sunday in tough conditions, with burrow suspended, that just isn't enough.
We still have a squad of players capable of much better performances, to release cross and biff was always going to put strain on our squad, then to keep ambler and amor out on loan its simply not logical, we're relying on kylie who has been pretty decent all year, but is burning out, and JP who will run his blood to water, but has been out most the season with a serious injury
