| Thing is we were crap for different reasons then. Back in those days Wigan had all the best players and we only got our hands on them when they were over 30. These days we have a pretty decent team who are generally putting the effort in but are let down by the coaching side of things (selection / rotation / management issues).
If we were putting our best team out ever week who were playing to their potential then I could take being beaten, but it's almost as if we don't want to win anything this year

| last year we got some hammerings but the team was decimated by injury and the boys tried there hearts out.
this year is different. its a shambles, entertainment value is zero and the managements answer?
try again with the same old next year.
if there are no decent signings and the coach is the same why the hell should i pay £300 to watch

Frank Bough and Max Mosely will be looking to buy season tickets next year.

| Quote Omar Little="Omar Little"I've supported Leeds RL for over 20 years now and, despite a few false dawns, we were crap for the first 15 or so ...it was the false dawns that really hurt...In the words of John Cleese "I can take the despair. It's the hope I can't stand."
I genuinely struggle to pick my worst moment...Offiah's 10 tries, The Jonathan Davies Regal Trophy (92?), the 1995 premiership final [size=50(Actually, I think this might be the one)[/size, the whole of the first superleague season...I could go on.
One thing I do remember though is how little most Wigan fans appreciated what they had back then - they'd leave Wembley after another win with barely a smile on their face...my one consolation was always that when (actually it was more if) we won something we'd really really appreciate it - and did we ever in 1999 and then even more in 2004.
Maybe its time we regained some perspective.
We've just seen the greatest period in our clubs history...ok it might now take us a couple of transition years to be back challenging but that's life and boy has it been worth it!'"

| Quote BillyRhino="BillyRhino"Oh Dear.
I am the only person who finds the the heading "whinos or loyal loiners" a tad ambiguous?
The poster appears to be trying to make a bizzare statement that those who are dissatisfied with the current on and off field performances at Headingley are "whinos", and in his estimation not "loyal Loiners"
Since when was the length of time following a team any indication of a personal level of support? Does buying a season ticket rather than spending your money at the gate, as and when work rotas allows, make you any less of a fan? If you don't visit the Club shop and buy the latest away strip should you be publicly shunned?
I've been at Headingley since the 70's. Does that make me a "better" fan than someone who has only stood on the terraces in the good years? Does it love. It simply means I'm most likely older than them, and their thoughts on the game/club have no more validity or less than mine.
I'll let you into a secret Omar. In the same way I wouldn't drink a bad pint in any pub, far less my favourite one, I won't be renewing my season ticket next season. Instead, I'll be picking the matches to watch, and yes, bitching on here when things are not going as well as I think they could.
And the reason for that is pure and simple. It's my money, and I'll spend it as I like.
As can you.

I read this as “we were sh*t for ages but have had a little success of late but looks like we’re back to being sh*t – true fans shouldn’t complain about being sh*t and should just bend over and take it up the ar[size=100s[/sizee because that’s what true fans do, if you p[size=100i[/sizess and moan about constantly losing then you’re a Whino”
Sorry mate but I want success and call me a fekkin’ Whino if you like but I’m not happy with the poor performances that are getting served up right now and feel that my season ticket has bought me the right to voice my opinion.

| Quote Sal Paradise="Sal Paradise"I completely disagree - look back in fondness is great when you think about your kids. This is pro sport, just because the club was poorly run, underachieved - in part due to Wigan having a full time squad - in the past is no justification for what is happening now.
I bet Alex Ferguson doesn't look back and think we were crap in the 70's and the 80's but we have been pretty successful since let's accept a couple of lean years - his hunger for success will be as strong now as it was when he first started in management.
Top people drive for constant improvement - a lack of which is seen as failure.'"
Oh come off it thats a nonsensical comparison - Manchester United are the richest football club in the world and compete in a non-salary capped sport with annual promotion and regulation that results in an entirely uneven playing field. Their wage bill is about twice that of the PL average and only 4 other clubs can possibly compete (Chelsea, Arsenal, Man City, Liverpool) - of those two one has only been at the party for two years (Man City) and one has been hampered by massive investment in their ground (Arsenal) and another has been unable to compete for years through the general incompetence of their previous owners (Liverpool).
If you want to compare to SL then the Champions League is a better comparison (thanks to the 3/4 teams per country the really big clubs are essentially guaranteed a place every year and their is a bigger spread of clubs with similar financial clout)...Man Utd have won it twice under Ferguson and been finalists twice (if we're generous and begin counting when the CL was extended that's in a 14 year period)...a fair few lean years there.

| You miss the point totally. It's not about money,it's about consistently updating the squad with fresh talent, not keeping players too long.in football terms we have done a revie, letting the bulk get old together. Much as I detest the scum ferguson is a master of keeping his team challenging while always looking to the future, being loyal but ruthless when needed. Red nosed scum bstsrd. He is
