Maybe the poor showing is a blessing in disguise. McDermott was always going to become coach when Mclennan left. At least with Mclennan leaving early, the subject of McDermott being a poor coach has been identified earlier before we make any major changes to the playing staff. If a new coach comes in either this year or next, at least it will be his team that will be playing week in week out and not just a case of re-signing dad's army for 2012.

What we have to be careful of is other clubs coming in and making offers for the likes of BJB, Watkins, Hardaker, Ambler, Amor, McShane, Hood et al. We should be moulding the future squad around players like Burrow, McGuire, Sinfield, Peacock etc now giving them experience so when the changes come we don't have a full squad of rookies on the field.

No. The decline started last year, but it was always going to happen at some point. The fact is at the start of last season we were absolutely ravaged by injuries. At times there were 11 missing. I remember that game at wigan away when Tom Bush, Amor etc, all had to play. That put us behind the 8 ball a bit but we still recovered to finish 4th in the league. And that woeful CC cup final aside, generally they gave the big teams a really good game - see CC run and beating all the top teams in the league at least once.

I could have seen last years team, despite there being some v poor displays, going to Saints and making it a real game. Do you really see us going to the league winners in the playoffs and winning? Or beating the teams who finished 5th 1st and 2nd and get to the CC final.

Leeds record against the top 4 this season is an absolute disgrace, shipping 30 plus and often many more nealy every game. Cant see this changing. I think 7th place this year. Catalans are much better than us for a start.

Last year I thought our best performance was against Melbourne Storm in the WCC,and I came away thinking we have a good chance of winning SL again this year,and I think we would not have been far away,but for the injuries.This season is different,but we should be at least competing.

We were in decline last year but not to this extent. All need to take blame. Some of the players are under performing. The manager is usless, and Gh seems to have made some grave errors in recruitment and player retention. Not to mention coach recruitment

Wire need to dominate for the next four or five years at Old Trafford before they will be up there with Leeds and Saints. They are still no marks when it comes to silverware despite back to back cup wins.

Leeds are in decline no doubt but Wire will lose the spine of their team in the next two years. Let's see what happens when Briers, Hodgson, Monaghan x2 and Carvell and Morley have retired or moved on. Saints haven't dropped out of the top two in Super League in five years despite losing Long, Sculthorpe and Cunningham and replacing about 60% of the starting 17 in that time. Let's see if you can do the same. Unlikely.

Leeds need to ship out some of their former stars but not throw the baby out with the bath water or it will take some serious rebuilding.

Wire are currently destroying all comers and are a shoe-in for the league and cup double.
