| Quote Andy R="Andy R"I quite like Diskin as well, but not as much as Buderus
I'd suggest the more worrying man crush is the poster who has informed us McShane will be as good as any of the above in the next 2 years'"
No man crush here.he has the tools to be up there and better than Cunningham in my opinion as does Roby if they continue in the way they are currently.

That is slightly more reasoned.
Roby is almost at that level and along with Graham is pretty much carrying Saints on his back at the moment. I still think it's very early in McShane's career to be saying things like that. Let him develop and see where he is in a year or 2. It's not long ago some Leeds fans were writing him off

2 years is a long time, does he have a long way to go to reach Cunningham standard yes. Is it achieveable? Yes. How will any of us be able to see 2 yrs in the future of a young player?
He has bags of potential and could get there it's not rediculious to think he could get there just someones opinion.
We shouldn't be getting too carried away with him but equally we shouldn't be writing it off completely.

| Quote Andy R="Andy R"That's a ridiculous statement. The kid has bags of potential but to say in a couple of years he'll be as good as, arguably the best British player of the last 10 years, is a enormous reach!
If he continues to develop, if he continues to improve his defence (which has shown signs of improvement, if he stays fit annd healthy, if he has the right players around him etc, etc.
If he does all these things, he might become a very good SL player, he might even play international RL, he might be the best hooker in SL and could still fall way short of Cunningham'"
Well said Andy.
Good spell by McShane. Certainly the better of the two hookers we played Thursday (what does that say about Buderus?(, but the jury remains firmly out on McShane. He's been a defensive liability at times this year. One good bench stint against a pish poor Bulls doesn't make him KC and doesn't make Buderus the greatest influence on hookers since Wendell Sailor.

It says nothing really much about the starting hooker but quite a lot about the role of a bench hooker in a two hooker rotation selection.

| The 2 hooker system is working really well. Buderus' defence in the early part of the game is excellent, he really gets stuck in and fills gaps. McShane is providing the more craft of the 2 at the moment, infact he is looking the real deal, which I have always had my doubts he would become if I am honest.

Couldn't agree more.
Why read it and weep? If McShane is capable of this then why waste such cap space and a quota space on someone like Buderus? Diskin could've done the job.
Like I've said for a while, he and Diskin didn't work together because Buderus should've been used from the bench with Diskin starting. However, all this nonsense of Buderus being an 80 min player should have firmly been put to bed now.

While the need to recruit Buderus at the time was questionable he is certainly an upgrade on Diskin. Whether the signing was right or not it's been great to be able to watch someone who will go down as one of the best hookers of his generation. I'm sure McSHane would have complimented Diskin as well but I bet he's learning a hell of a lot more from Buderus.
Although I'm sure you know all that already - keep plugging that agenda
