Ok, so there are a number of reasons for our dismal performances this year, including:
Throwing silly passes on the first tackle.
Drift defence not drifting.
James Lowes offering nothing whatsoever.
Willie Poching leaving.
Injuries.
Dropping a LOT of ball.
But, after going to all but one of the games this season, the key factor for me is our markers.
It seems we are jumping off the tackled player as soon as possible allowing a quick play the ball and our defence is then all over the place! I have even seen us only have one marker on a few occasions.
Friday was a case in point, Luke Robinson (and Shaun Lunt when he came on) had a field day! They made easy yards and then offloaded to players with far too much time on their hands! It seems as though the 2 markers aren't talking either, Dale Ferguson's first try on Friday proved that as our 2 markers went the same way!
I really think this is a problem. I would have thought McDermott would have noticed but it seems to get worse. We need to hold the player down a little quicker and get square straight away.
The Markers issue has been covered by the c#*p defence posts tbh mate.
As for Poching leaving he was awful with our u20's last year and GH was determined he wasn't gonna have any input on this years crop.
