Call me old fashioned but I don't see why the club should benefit financially anyway. I understand the "hitting the player where it hurts" (the pocket) policy to try and prevent a similar action in the future, but why should the club benefit?
They should've just said, you're fine is "£xx.xx, all of which is going to the Japanese Charity".
Bailey's an idiot, and the club is a grand better off. Where's the sense in that?!
