| Quote: G1 "This is salient. If correct it means there will be a contact in place (not a playing contact), which might restrain Dobson from signing elsewhere. How enforceable that will be depends upon whether Leeds or Bradford's lawyers were involved
That is the interesting bit! It sounds like Dobson might have signed some sort of compromise agreement, which of course are common place in the UK when people 'leave' employers (usually by mutual agreement) and can restrict you going to work for a competing company for a set length of time... however, they normally give you a compromise payment of some kind to make up for this!!!
Normally, if they restrict you working for a competitor they cover people's full salary for that period, so if six months, you get a payment of at least this amount of money and often a little more.
Now, they must have done this because one assumes that Dobson would not take too kindly to not being paid his basic salary or he would have told them to bog-off. So, if we assume that Hull KR don't have much room on their cap, if any, then I think they have got themselves into a right pickle. I suspect the salary cap rules will not cover compromise payments, because you would normally just be paying someone off to get rid of them but HKR are trying to get around various rules here. If a compromise payment was made and it takes them over the cap 'in theory' then I think the RFL board will have no choice but to turn down Hull KR re-registering Dobson at HKR as if they they would be complicit in HRK breaking 'the spirit' of the salary cap.
The only way they could have done this is if this 'payment' does not take them over the cap for the year, which it might not have done given they were signing Mason anyway. If it does, they and Dobson are screwed. They must have worked this out before doing this surely?
Of course, the RFL board could still refuse to allow Dobson to re-register anyway as HKR are also breaking the spirit of the quota system by trying to play Mason before he officially able to register off the quota... actually, I think HKR and Dobson are screwed!!!! If I was a club CEO or chairman I would be lobbying the RFL to turn-down Dobson's re-registration...
What a mess!

| Quote: gostrider "Having seen the latest statement by the RFL that KR seem to have agreed a special agreement to re-register Dobson, despite going against the RFL's own rules - should fans of all clubs (obviously except Rovers) not be requesting their club and directly to the RFL that this should not be permitted. The RFL law states that the rule is there to stop clubs stock piling overseas players and then cherry picking who plays on a weekly basis, yet in affect this is what Hull KR are doing. Seems to me they are not bending rules but shattering them - they already took the mickey by getting special dispensation to sign Mason on a Tongan passport (Blocking clubs such as Huddersfield / Salford who had a genuine quota space). Surely registering Mason to the RFL while keeping Dobson's contract should mean Hull KR have exceeded quota regulations and should not have been allowed to go ahead. If they are allowed to get away with this our game will desend into a farce. Why dont Wigan terminate Fieldens contract - sign a prop - Ewan Dowes for example - using Fieldens space on the cap, then simply when Fielden is fit, re-register and send Dowes back. (Fielden then gets paid for painting the chairmans fence while out of the game each month)
Dobson seems to be a topic on most fans forums - each agreeing he's a player that they would like at their club (me included) - what I want to see is each fan and each club not wanting to see Dobson in a KR shirt again this season (as the rules) and our games so called governors enforce the rules they create.
Failing that I urge Hull FC sign Greg inglis because I heard he drank a pint of Guiness once. Apparently he only needs £20,000 a year as his wife as a £300,000 a year cleaning job.
e-mail the RFL, e-mail your clubs - this must be blocked.
Thank you'"

982.jpg [quote:1pqtnbtj]Every player in our squad could probably earn more money with another club. But they prefer to sacrifice a few extra quid in their back pocket to share special memories. And playing at a place like Old Trafford on a night like this makes it all worthwhile.[/quote:1pqtnbtj]

I saw nothing to share your opinion from his loan spells at Hull, it appears his coaches (at Leeds and Hull) saw nothing to share your opinion and I've seen nothing since in his Salford displays to share your opinion.
But it's an opinion and you're entitled to it. Just seems we drag this up each time we see him play and he rarely does anything. If you were right I am sure you'd have your day by starting a thread after a rip roaring Broughton display. Maybe soon he will give you the ammunition.

I never particularly saw it as an either/or between them rather a potential future left wing partnership as Senior and Donald approached the twilight of their Leeds careers. One of Broughton/Watkins/Jones-Bishop could comfortably IMO have been entrusted with the number 2 shirt for 2010 on Donald's expected departure at the end of 2009.'"
To the Ginger Chancer's credit, at least he was prepared and willing to renege on another one-year extension to his contract. I'm guessing even he was embarrassed at the thought of stealing a substantial wage for one more season. It's just a shame the notorious eBay seller doesn't feel the same way.

I don't start many threads as a rule (the weekly Opta thread aside) and I wouldn't to discuss a Leeds decision from the past, just as it's rarely (if ever) me that turns a thread in to yet another Broughton discussion now that he's left.
I'd look a little closer to home to see who regularly casts that particular line. Often off the back of not actually bothering to watch a Broughton performance.
His 154 meters V Wigan last week sounded impressive after you enquired last week and where did he appear from to halt Rob Burrow in the second half on Friday? Pace like that is an invaluable commodity on the wing if the rest of his game is sound.
I know you'll appreciate those efforts or at least I know you would if a Leeds player had produced them.

The jealosy and bitterness of some Hull Fc fans Knows no bounds, their obsession with their cross city rivals is becoming embarrasing, what Hull kr have done is within the rl laws and has in fact been implimented previously by other SL clubs on more than one occasion, as has been stated by the RFL, Rimmer stated every super league club has had some special dispensation in the past and KR are no different
