| Quote G1="G1"You're stirring up something that just isn't there and making yourself look silly.
Matt has been working in property development for quite some time, including during his Leeds career.
He was working in property in 2009 and that didn't interfere with his playing commitment to Leeds. The only thing that interfered with Matt's playing commitment was the clubs decision to sign an over the hill, injury prone expensive Aussie. Once that hindrance was out of the way in 2009 Matt was able to play a major role in our unbeaten run and 3rd consecutive GF.
HTH'"
Nail....head. Some people on here just make themselves look silly.

| Quote The Teacher="The Teacher"He was working in property of his own, not for anyone else. I would have thought the expectations may well have been different.
He was given too much game time at Leeds last season, that was the problem. Now he will go to playing 15 minute stints behind another Aussie who was Bradfords star man last season.'"
erm no he wont. your reading too much into way potters assigned squad numbers. As a new coach coming in he doesnt have much knowledge of players to base assigning squad numbers on. As such he's gone down route of giving all remaining senior players from last year a number in 17 then giving new signings remaining numbers. hence why l'estrange remains as 9 and diskin gets 14. In reality its almost certain that diskin will get the starting hooking role, as it suits his game better, and l'estrange will come off bench as thats where he excels. think gametime will be pretty evenly split between them.
As for the stuff about diskins off field business activities. Doesnt bother me in the slightest. At least he's got the good sense to know he needs to plan for life after rugby. As long as he meets his training and playing commitments then what he does in his free time is entirely upto him and I'd rather he was doing something like this than sitting round nandos or playing a games console which seems to be a lot of rugby players chief pastimes judging by their twitter feeds.

Basically the England 9 shirt is waiting for Logan Tomkins to have half a dozen good games or less! then he will be hailed as the next big thing and the media fest will ensue at the Thought of the 3 tomkin twunts playing together.

| I'm glad nobody brought Buderus into a thread about Diskin for once.

| I hope that Diskin can carve a career away from RL, I really do and although I respect him and his achievements in a Leeds shirt, he’s now an opposition player and is held in regard as such.
Away from the pitch I think he’s a bit of a cheap shot merchant – it’s no coincidence that he announced his move to the Bulls only once he’d reaped every penny that he could from us through his testimonial events/merchandise. Also he turned his heart-felt and oh so sincere ‘Open farewell letter to the Leeds fans’ into a free advertising opportunity for his new venture.
Good luck to you Matt but TBH I couldn’t give a stuff any more, you’ve had enough of my hard earned already.

I kind of agree, but its a dog eat dog world out there, every man for himself. His letter was a bit of an embarrassment slap n the face...but can you blame him. There is rarely any loyalty in sport. Its a business.

I agree – all is fair in love, war and business, just not that happy about being one of the mugs that banged more than a few quid into his bank account just to be told “…thanks for that, now see you later… sucker” but that’s business I suppose, not really ethical business but business all the same.

I'd also agree with those sentiments. He certainly knows how to play the publicity game, and I wonder how long before he shoehorns a mention for his new company into any after match interviews.
That said, I'll certainly stand and applaud him onto the pitch at Headingley. He is indeed now an opposition player, but one with an excellent Headingley pedigree, and for me, is at least due that respect.

| we don't know what went on behind the scenes. it could be leeds wanted to get shut to free up cap space.i think his best days are way behind him but either way i will applaud him onto the pitch and he should be inducted into the southstander hall of fame when he retires. a true leeds legend.

I think that was the case. You cannot play a two hooker system with a lightweight ball playing loose forward - It just leaves you too light in the pack. Because of that Leeds just got battered in the pack last year. And I think Leeds.Brian Mac realised this and saw Diskin as the one to go.
