I thought the offsides last night were awful by both teams really and abletts hit on tomkins looked worse because i dont think he expected it which threw his head back having said that i thought he should have got at least 10 mins in the sinbin and should expect to get a match ban. Haven't seen a replay of Baileys yet so i can't comment but one thing i have failed to see on here (sorry if it is on here, just taken a quick scan through) is Wigan's little act of trapping the oppositions hand where the rugby ball is so it looks like leeds were interfering and could not step away from the tackle without pulling the ball away therfore causing a penalty either way. I've seen Wigan doing this for 10 or 11 matches now and surely if i can see it the officials must be catching on?? All teams have their little tricks and usually the officials are quick to catch for example "milking" the tackle by leeds has died off now because the refs simply ignored it and has made the game better but I think this should also be dealt with.

Partly because your punishments seem to be arbitrary but mainly because we quite like to understand what the press announcements mean when they are published.

I think with some refs you need to know how they are controlling the defensive line. Im sure watching one of the "league of their own" style dvds some of the refs actually retreated 11 yards and had the players creep in front of them slighlty. (much to the annoyance of the crowd). But as stated above, if you can get away with it, you should keep doing it.

How was the hit late? Tomkins still had the ball. As for Bailey being a thug, see my post on the Ablett thread as to thugs and Wigan front rowers.

It was late because Ablett didn't clean him out before the ball got there presumably. Maybe that's what has got them all in a tizzy.
