I was once given a pennant for the old Bramley side of the 1970s, it too was so crap it was unbelievable that people would pay with real money for such tat, but they did.
It was rosettes, rattles and free paper hats from your local newspaper with "Up for t'cup" printed on them - in those less cosmopolitan days the Wembley weekend really was like an invasion of unwashed northern oiks with their bad grammar and fondness for beer with froth.
I went with the Queenswood Club trip in 77 and on the Saturday night we were ferried across town to a Larn-den working mens club where we were paraded in the concert room like circus freaks, "look everywan, its thaws strange pe'pul from aaap Nowff cam darn eer agin..."
