Taking lectures from a supporter of a team who buy Australian players on very short term contracts specifically for the end of season play-offs is almost the perfect definition of irony.

Didn't he also beat Bob Eccles 40 tries in a season for a forward record as well while at Leeds?

I heard a few stories about Leeds attempts to sign Offiah from Widnes when Dougie was in charge. I won't repeat them as they all involve severe critiques of a certain person's IQ (although it's hard to argue that despite it's alledgedly low number, that person did make the best choice in the end).

Bob Haigh scored 40 for Leeds. Did Bob Eccles manage to beat that? I think he probably did, early eighties, but there was some skullduggery at play with Warrington team-mates giving him the ball to touch down after crossing the line towards the end of the season.

Not that Hanley was completely above such measures either after receiving a similar pass from Schofield for one of his. He still didn't select him in a Test that cost Schoey the outright GB caps record. Nice touch as Schoey deserved the place, IMO.

Not sure what the Challenge Cup told us last season, in the grand scheme of things, set alongside fourteen years of SL.

For Warrington it was absolutely massive to win it but (and sorry to all my newly acquired internet Wire chums) it came on the back of a fairly fortuitous draw in the early rounds (York and Featherstone), a narrow escape V Hull KR (golden point was it? - I probably need to check these facts now that Oldham is on my case
