but I don't understand how you can say a team which has finished 3rd for the last 3 seasons, has one of the deepest squads around, and is now top of the league 4 points clear and 6 or more points clear of last years finalists is - 'not there just yet'
I can't see where you get that from. '"
Because it's the 16th June. Where we all are now doesn't mean anything. Don't go counting chickens about League leaderships just yet either. You've to come to Headingley in the league and I believe you also have Saints and Wire again? Of course, you're favourites to finish top but I'd suggest you look at Leeds forum up to June in the 2005 season, their lead in the league table and what happened next. A lot could yet happen in this season.
Leeds have blown similar leads atop the table at this stage and won Grand finals, as have Saints.
The thing I have learned, and i suspect most leeds and Saints fans have learned, over the last three years is that the form your team takes into September and October is more important than anything else at all. including league position. Catalan found a run of form and very nearly made the GF from 8th. Leeds have a stated goal of peaking late season every year and do it to perfection.
That is also part of the reason why I don't really see Wigan as as big a threat as Saints. I won't argue that Wigan have been the form team. As I know from watching Leeds these last three seasons it's very, very difficult to maintain that form from beginning to end and i suspect, just my own opinion, that you may have peaked too early.
As you say, we will see soon enough and I look forward to it all unfolding.
