It was one that got away from Wakie. They threw away a commanding position.
I thought the try on the bell of half time got Leeds back into into.
I thought (and was right) that it was then 'next try scorer - winner'
Leeds bossed the 2nd half and got the win.
Kear said the best side lost. I don't agree. Wakie commanded 1 half, Leeds the other. Leeds' momentum in the 2nd half was much more effective than Wakie. Neither coach will be thrilled by this game. So in these cases just make sure you walk away with the 2 points. Failing that you can nick them like Leeds did.
With 10 minutes left it looked like Wakie knew what was coming. They didn't seem to have the energy or desire to deny Leeds a match winner.
As for Leeds - the defence has to tighten up quick. Leaking far too many try's.
Thought Clarkson's effort to score was outstanding. it was just raw determination to get over. He just kept driving and kept his arms free. It wasn't flash but it was a much better score than the 1st glance at it. I think alot of players would have conceded the tackle a split second before he scored. Effort lad.
Thought Kirke had a good 1st stint.
JP gave real honest go forward. His best game since his comeback.
My man worked his socks off yet again. Thought he took the ball up with good tempo. Notice how things happen when he takes the ball near try line. Quick PTB!!! Directly scored 1 try from his PTB - quick hands saw the gap exposed. The same thing actually happened twice - but the Burrow score was chalked off. But the threat is still the same. In the interest of fairness (as sometimes I am accused of wearing rose tinted glasses!!! pah) he should have made the tackle on Ben J. But he can't peform perfection every week.
As for Biff - thought he got on with the hard stuff well. Dont recall him dropping any ball and was ok in defence. Was caught out for the Loopy Leo score (IIRC) slow in getting back the 10.
Those are my immediate musings. More will follow, maybe.
