He came round in front of him (from an offside position) and deliberately knocked the ball out of his hand to stop him playing the ball, which could well have led to a Leeds try. I really don't get the fuss about Webb's challenge. It only looks bad in slow motion.

In real time Webb simply comes in to clean Gardener out exactly as you'd expect a fullback to in that situation. Gardener is already being tackled and therefore Webb has to get low and slide into it...the end result is the contact with the knees but the clear intent is nothing malicious it's simply an attempt to put the player over the whitewash.

Webb wouldn't have got anything in days gone by.

Looking at this tonight, I think even the penalty was a harsh punishment of Webb, although I can understand it being given. The reason there was impact with his knees was because Gardner dived ridiculously early in trying to score. He's dived early to score, the fact that he came into contact with Webb's knees was just the price he should've paid for an attempted try.
