| Quote Lord God Jose Mourinho="Lord God Jose Mourinho"It was a blatant, stupid attempt to slow the PTB which resulted in a penalty that Saints 100% didn't want to conceed.
You sin bin a player when he deliberately gives away a penalty rather than allow a PTB and probably conceed a try. There was no special circumstances behind that situation apart from it was close to our line. It was never a binnable offence and no one with any sense would call it that.'"
Rubbish! Cunningham was behind Leuluai when he went to play the ball. He came round in front of him (from an offside position) and deliberately knocked the ball out of his hand to stop him playing the ball, which could well have led to a Leeds try. Professional foul + sin bin - no different in principle to the Wildcats sinbinning for stopping Leeds taking a quick 22 metre tap. Deliberate ploy by Cunningham to give away 2 rather than 6 points.

You're right to a point - he does protect his winger very well - but not usually as blatantly as that.

Granted he tends to be more subtle in his ‘attempt’ to jump for the ball.

Ganson didn't give the penalty for jumping too early. And that's obviously not an offence anyway.
Ganson gave the penalty for barging, and he named Senior as the offender.
Senior jumped for the ball. We don't know whether he'd jumped too early or not because Gidley barged him out of the way before he had a chance to catch it.
It was a bull5hit penalty. Your explanation of the penalty is bull5hit.

That's a pretty impotent response John.
He deliberately jumped way too early with no intention of going for the ball. He'd landed before it got there.

Webb would have got a red card for the knee job in days gone by.

Please answer these simple questions:
1) Did Ganson give the penalty for barging, and name Senior as the offender?
2) Did Keith barge into anyone?
3) Was Keith barged into by a Saints player?

I really don't get the fuss about Webb's challenge. It only looks bad in slow motion.
In real time Webb simply comes in to clean Gardener out exactly as you'd expect a fullback to in that situation. Gardener is already being tackled and therefore Webb has to get low and slide into it...the end result is the contact with the knees but the clear intent is nothing malicious it's simply an attempt to put the player over the whitewash.

Webb wouldn't have got anything in days gone by.
The penalty was only given against him because of the VR.
In the old days it would have been ruled as a simple knock on while attempting to score.
Looking at this tonight, I think even the penalty was a harsh punishment of Webb, although I can understand it being given. The reason there was impact with his knees was because Gardner dived ridiculously early in trying to score. He's dived early to score, the fact that he came into contact with Webb's knees was just the price he should've paid for an attempted try.
