Morris was 87-88 IIRC? Certainly not 84-85. A number of those lads signed in the mid 80s came straight from the Qld Cup when it was a very good competition in its own right, with the Broncos not having formed and a lot of Qld players staying up here despite offers to move to Sydney. Terry Webb was in that category.
What those sorts of players showed was how deep the Aussie player base was - Webb would never have got within a million miles of the NSWRL but was a regular in England for some time - he played stand off, Hooker, Loose forward, second row and even prop. He could do that just because he did the basics pretty well.
