I completely agree.

We finally got our kicking game right on Friday night but we could'nt turn it into pressure as we gave stupid pentalties away that let the Wigan players march up the field untouched.

It can't be the refs fault if it happens every week, home or away and with all refs in Super League. There is a serious problem here that needs to be addressed asap!

We let teams back into games when we could close them out. Wakefield and Hull FC home and away recently are 2 that spring to mind. Ok, we won those games but points difference could cost us the Minor Premiership!

But you're still missing the point. The circumstance of a player being stood offside at a play the ball and being involved in the next play is extremely rare.

Has anyone come up with another instance of this happening in any game this season?

I said at the time it possibly wouldn't happen again this season whether the referee detects it or not.

Not sure. I don't think I would notice it if the ref didn't ping it. Not sure the ref would notice it as he has to patrol the 10m, the ruck, the play the ball.

There are also a number of occassions when it is possible, such as from breaks on the play after a kick return,

Besides which as a rule it hardly ever happens anyway. The Webb one at Odsal could yet prove to be unique for this season.

The point I was in a round about way making was, well done to smith for seeing it, however don't miss the next one.
And the other thing you asked was quite obviously about that penalty too.

If it never happens again they'll be no need to award the penalty.

No-one has yet been able to point to another instance of it happening this season and that despite some stating that it happens every week when we were originally discussing the incident at Easter.
