Quote BarryLeVIC="BarryLeVIC"Just recovering from a massive hangover from last night, this is my last day in Leeds before flying back Down Under and therefor I am reflecting on the events of yesterday.
I've enjoyed my time in England, and met some nice people including Steve who refered me to this website.
Whilst I understand the passion that Rugby League brings out in all of us and I hate to be negative but me and some of my travelling friends had the evening
somewhat tainted by the behaviour of unfortunately a significant number of Leeds Rhinos fans.
It is a crying shame when you get sledged with quite frankly foul and abusive language for simply cheering when my team scored and indeed whenever
we tried to encourage the Manly boys.
To be told too sit down, or 'F' off every time any of us stood up after a Manly try was quite scary and for the first time ever at a Footy game I was actually quite scared of
being physically attacked!
Fair play to you Poms for your passion, but remember there are two sides in every game and without opposition supporters there would be no need in playing the
game at all.
The worst incident involved a number of objects, including coins and sweets which were thrown in our direction after we went 18-0 up, also a young girl over to watch her brother in the Manly squad, caused no trouble, just encouraged her brother had a beer thrown over her which went onto spoil her night.
I hope these memories don't over shadow what has been a wonderful stay, but my wife for one is stating that she won't be rushing to come back to England.
As I've already said, I have met some wonderful people and the warmth shown in particular by the Lord Mayor, Bradford Bulls club and the staff at Headingley Mr Hethrington enbodied everything good about the sport we all love.
GO MANLY and thanks for a great match, best wishes for 09#'"
what a joke!! worst fake poster award goes to?? this bloke
the bit that gives it away is the part about not seeing trouble at footie games. i spend lots of time in oz working(as i have mentioned before). i go to many sports events nrl, cricket, A league, world cup RL and i have see aussies fighting at theses events, 99% of the time with each other, it seems to be something of a social event to them.
obviously this person was not at the world cup final where i saw drunken aussies offering each other out and poms out too. funny enough the massive kiwi blokes we had a great laugh with got left well alone.
the cricket at the MCG is the worst ive ever seen where towards the end of the day aussies pick a fight with the bloke next to them and you get an all in bash up every 5 mins or so within the last hour of play!!
i must say i love australia and its people(for the most part) and the world cup was amazing, but the aussies are the best fans in the world when they win and the worst when they lose.
