The offer to WTW is tied up in the S106 agreement which is a legally binding document, it's not so easily removed and I doubt it will be as the legal process would have to be paid for by WMDC

I will concede I could be wrong The Pink 'Un, but I didn't think that a section 106 would bind a council to provide funding to a project.

I'd be prepared to be disapointed if I were you.

| I personally think developments such as Newmarket should get all they help they need from local authorities.
I know someone who's son works for the developers, and although there are plans in place, that's literally all there is at the moment. There has been no money put forward thus far - it's still only bluepronts.
If I were a wakefield fan I wouldn't be focussing my attentions on NM until I was walking through the turnstiles. And I'm sure any sane erson, rugby related or not, would admit that a development of this magnitude, with a delivery schedule of 3-5 years, is not set in stone.
Government funding cuts/inputs alter year on year, so to say Wakefield are guaranteed any money is slightly off the mark.
Besides, WTW cannot take the government to court should any funding of a scheme such as this be cut, for various reasons.
Like I said, I think the development will/would be fantastic for the district. But the only thing that is certain is that the developers have permission to make it happen, so I think it's that far away that any speculation at this moment is literally just that. Speculation.
The factors surrounding it are vast, and none of which are certain. So if it happens, it happens. Much can change for the better/worse

Won't matter to one of the three, they were getting nothing anyway

| On the Waky board Mr Armadillo seems to think the funds are from the pay back from the debacle the council got themselves in with the bank of Iceland, who are supposed to be paying it back, another thing i will believe when i see it or if i see it.

I'd prepare to be wrong if I were you, jeez man you're poorly informed. The offer is part the S106 agreement and simply cannot be removed unless the whole project collapses. End of.
Also unless the rules have changed Councils cannot remove monies from Capital projects to make up for budget deficits. They can remove the funding but they can't switch it's use which makes it fairly pointless.
There is no doubt NM remains on the cusp for now but should it collapse I'm fairly sure it will be due to the development as a whole failing to sell and thus gain funding from the banks - and that is a completely different issue.
You really are clutching at straws.

| the only way either club will have new stadium will be a shared one. Anyone and everyone knows cas & wakey both have no money to put towards their stadium "plans". time for both clubs to come clean , as both are making themselves a laughing stock , living in hope that the other fails to make them look more credible ......pathetic

And you know that how?
I don't pretend to know Castleford's situation but having read my latest update e-mail from Sir Rodney Walker he doesn't share your scepticism.
No offence Dave but I'll take my cues from him as somehow I feel he may be better informed than you.

What a truly clueless comment from a truly clueless poster.
You're right about one thing though Wakefield have no money to put towards any stadium and if you were not so pig ignorrant you'd actually know how and why that isn't an issue.

Just over £6m has been returned already and the total is expected to be close to £9m. This is the money WMDC are willing to use to invest in both clubs (£2m each) in return for suitable community use facilities.

you know me mucker, I just take things as I see them, I'm not informed particularly well at all.
I hope you're not guessing. I also hope the person that keeps you informed isn't either...
Taht being said, I stll maintain that this is a massive project for the area, and to assume it is all but done and dusted would be foolish. A proect that is 3/4 years away doesn't mean a great deal to me, as someone who is uninformed.............. I will be following you into the stadium once its opened anyway, and at that point I shall commend your knowledge of the situation
