tbh i think childs stupid penalties will slow the game down which will help wakey, quick play of the balls and fast running from dummy half cut them to bits against saints and i think we would have done the same with a competent ref. Now the game will become slow and niggly which will suit wakey far more than us

With two evenly matched teams one will win and one will lose or they'll draw. The referee's interpretation of the rules may or may not have an influence. The only people who complain are the ones on the side that loses, and no-one will ever be able to tell if another referee would have handled the game so that another outcome would have happened. It's complete speculation.

People can gripe, moan and complain as much as they like about the referee, but one point to bear in mind is this: the standard of refereeing is usually much better when you're a neutral spectator.

Not necessarily. He may favour us this time. My point is that he will have too big an influence on the result. What that result will be , we don't know yet.
Recent history suggest's that Childs favours Cas, so my money would be on a Cas win.

Favours us? You must be joking. He hasn't been biased in the games he's done for us, just trigger happy with the whistle. We're as annoyed he's reffing our game as a fan of any side would be.

As far as I am aware Cas have won every game that has had Child in charge. At least the last two against us + the Hull game. How can he favour you any more? Send off the opposing 13 before the kick off?

With any other ref we would still be at the mercy of the guy's interpretation but, generally, he would control the game as we/you/every one else on the planet would expect.
On current form you would probably win, but through skill and ability rather than through the inept performance of a clossett Cas fan.

So you ARE saying we could put the Cas High U14s out and still win, because the ref will see to it!

I doubt it....

I think the majority of Wakey fans (like the majority of other clubs fans) just believe that he is incompetent rather than biased.

Personally I don't believe that he is biased in favour of any team, the fact that Cas have won the games he has reffed them in is probably just coincidence.
I suspect that any as an earlier poster said any team that loses with this guy in the middle is likely to blame him because he is so prominent. In reality if you stood back and looked at each decison he made you would find fault with decisions for both sides not just your own.

His problem is that he does not have the ability to use a bit of common sense, like some of the more experienced refs do, and he applies the rules (as he understands them) without any personal experience of how the game is played.


I have no doubt I will walk away from the game on Friday night cursing him (win or lose) but I also feel that if he gets whistle happy around the play-the-ball then it helps rather than hinders us.

This is what worries me, because it stops us playing and drags us into a scrap. It's not what the game's about and on far too many occasions in the last couple of seasons have I seen us 'punished' for trying to play good, expansive rugby.

Just to make your argument look even more ridiculous I feel that I must point out something I had to before the game against Wakey last season.

Prior to that Wakefield had won 7 games that season with Child in charge, yes 7.
