Featherstone Rovers - Co-Operative Championship League Leaders and Champions 2011:

Quote: toastymcb "Are you honestly saying that Fev fans would organise to go to a game, half of them buy Cas shirts, the other half buy Wakey shirts and then fight with each other to make both clubs look bad? I was at the game, I am a Featherstone fan, was I there to cause trouble? No. I was hoping to watch a decent game of rugby league from the apparent pinnacle of the sport but spent the majority of the second half being bundled out of the way by police and stewards trying to get to where the idiots were and dodging bottles that were filled with god knows what. Think you should look at the clubs that were involved before making wild accusations.'"

Well said. I think both Cas and Wakey fans need to have a long hard look at themselves before they go spouting ridiculous accusations like "it was all Fev fans".

I even said to my lad "I bet when we get home, some numpty has gone on the internet and blames Fev for this"

Well the RFL told Cas it's the responsibility of the home team to keep the crowd in check which means if they're going to be consistent, Wakefield are going to be fined.

From what I saw, it was 6 and two 3s, although admittedly, the only projectiles that I saw head for the pitch appeared to come from Wakey "fans".

You have to question the sanity of scheduling the fixture on the evening of Good Friday, when plenty of morons (from both sides) will have been on the razz all day.

IMHO, it was bound to end in some sort of disturbance.

I also question whether alcohol should be sold in and around any stadium, sober people tend not to act like complete tools (although I accept that there are always exceptions)

Shall we offer our congratulations to the Wakey board for exaggerating an already tense derby atmosphere by attempting to create a segregation within the crowd with their statement earlier in the week??

Thankfully the level headed supporters of both teams went to the game with the intention of enjoying the game, and did exactly that. Unfortunately a few idiots decided to try their best to spoil the day also!

I think you are right, most if not all were plain clothed and wore no colours. But from what I saw, the fans that did get chucked out were plucked from the Wakey side of the line. Plus the fact many of them were hissing and spitting at the Cas fans as they were being dragged out.

I understand what you are saying, however bank holiday derby games have been going on since the year dot. This one wasn't a one off brain wave. IMO the Wakey crowd segregation statement from earlier in the week poured extra fuel on the fire!

There is a name already to 1 of the main trouble causer's from tonight,he is from eastmoore and is a twin. I will not give a name, thats unfair and he was 1 of the many wakey fans to be escorted out by police.

Wakey couldn't control the crowd. Missiles hitting Cas players and officials. Fine coming up for Wakey.

You're probably right, I read about that earlier today and agree that it was incredibly poorly handled.

I'm sure I saw a couple of bobbies with cameras, so hopefully those responsible will be found and banned for life.

Wakey probably deserve some sort of sanction from the RFL too, crowd control was their responsibility.

Managed to escape alive - OK - that's an exaggeration but tonight is the first time I've witnessed such hooliganism. There's no other way to describe it.

To the lad that stood in front of me goading the Cas fans, effing and jeffing every sentence only to move up the 'divisive' line and towards the singing Cas fans, to the bottle throwers - congratulations. You've brought shame on both clubs. I didn't see who threw the first one but bottles were thrown from both parts.

However, from where I was stood the group of Wakefield fans next to the stewards spent more of the game singing at the Cas fans and shoving towards them antagonistically rather than watching their team play. I'm not saying that this wasn't the same for the Cas fans but from my angle, the majority of the singing Barmy Army Cas fans were sensible and focused on the game.

Shouldn't really matter if the Wakey board poured fuel on the fire or not, people just need to grow up and not spoil it for everyone else! Doesn't matter if it was Cas or Wakey fans, the whole world has a blame culture nowadays and people need to be responsible for themselves, unfortunately there are always a few tools who can't even manage that!

+1

I guess that this is kind of why we are segregating next week, we know we've got a few tools (although a good number of them were banned for life after the disgraceful events following the NRC semi v 'fax last year) and we are desparate for this event to be a complete success.
