Ferres isn't though as 'pants' by Cas fans as you have put it. Quite the opposite in fact, as his selection in the England train-on squad suggests.

I don't think there was much of an anti-Griffin sentiment last season. I think most people thought he did okay.

I don't know where he played for you today, but I remember a few last times last year he showed a distinct lack of pace (although I think he was carrying injuries at times). I reckoned that he might end up in the second row, because he is a big lad and mobile.

Was pretty sceptical about the Griffin signing but thought he went well today. He's a big centre which I think is something we need, deffo has a turn of pace and some skill to his game.. And without being too harsh to the lad (due to wind) I hope he is 5th choice kicker next season!

He played centre and outpaced the Bradford defence for his first try. Boy can he move. With the right attitude he could be as dangerous as Keith Senior in centre.

Our youngsters did well yesterday against some experienced guys, and were lead well by the older heads plus Milner/Clark.
Thought Griffin looked very impressive yesterday, was my MOTM. Slick hands to get the ball away, supported well, and looked threatening with the ball in hand. I really hope he can kick on, as he does have the potential, hands, size, and athleticism to become a top player. Several Wakefield fans I know bagged him/his attitude through last season, but I guess sometimes it's just a case of young players getting Super League experience, finding the right coach and club, and watching them flourish. How many times do we see players who don't get the wraps or talents recognised down here at Cas who go on to impress at other clubs, Liam Watts, Ben Gledhill etc. Hopefully Griffin, Mitchell and Nash can fit that bill too for us.

In other news, I read somewhere on here that our previous centre, Wllie Isa, apparently went down with a leg injury on debut for Widnes...

Pretty happy with that performances, especially with only 3 first choice players in the team (milner, clark and jones), griffen looked dangerous and powerful, has plenty of potential and took his tries well, nash looked solid and mitchell did some good work in defence. Johnson scored a good try and atkinson impressed. For me we looked so much more dangerous when clark (my mom) was on the pitch, made about 30 yards with his first touch and set the standard for the rest of the game from him. Davies looked like he will step up his game for us this year. Massey was solid.

Anyone know how many we have coming back for the next friendly?

I'm not sure, I can only imagine probably guaranteed ones would be Owen and Hudson who were precautionary, while Danny Orr and Rangi Chase were the only rested players, so assuming they'll be getting a hit out against SL opposition they may return? Seeing that Orr/Chase are a relatively well established combination, I'd be tempted to give Johnson or Brierley a bit of game time along side these guys.

Didn't he play with the Knights? Rangi was rested because of his england games. Maybe Jo was rested too.

I would agree with the previous poster that we looked better with Milner & Clark directing things. My eyes might have been playing tricks with me (not a fan of the new S.L numbers at all ) but Milner looked useful at 1st receiver and looks to be developing an all round game.

Could Millward be prepairing for when Danny Orr calls time?

I think you'll find Griffin a useful addition to be honest.

He started the season really well for us last year and was looking like making a really good player.

The reason for the anti-Griffin brigade from our side of the common appears to be (and this includes me) that he thought we were going to lose our licence so signed a deal with Crusaders for this season. After that he kind of lost interest a bit in playing for Wakey and was apparently absolutely gutted when Crusaders withdrew and we got a licence.

If you get the right attitude from him ,and there is no reason to expect not to, then I think he will make a very good player for you.
