| I never get this argument
#Point 1: The Calder district is a hotbed of rugby league talent.
Solution: Merge 3 sides into 1
Now, this may just be common sense, if you merge 3 teams into 1, won't you lose a lot of rugby league talent a) out of the area or b) to the game itself?
Cas are leading the way in terms of academy prospects in the Calder area but Wakefield and Fev both bring through their own youngsters on occasions too (Annakin and Trout two recent ones from Fev).
Sorry, but make your mind up.

| FWIW I think Ellis & Westwood are far better players than anything to come out of Cas in the past 15 years.
If 2 clubs died then yes the area would be poorer.
If the 2 satellite town's were in the championship, playing as subservient satellite clubs for the city team, then no I don't think it would.

Lock Lane isn't Castleford Tigers.
He was produced through our system not yours. Something which I still think your bitter over. He'll be coming "home" to you though one day won't he.
Keep believing.
In truth I hope you get your acts together. The derby is too important to both clubs. I do think we're blindly stumbling into a 1996 situation. Get ready to fight for your club. IF (& it's a bloody massive IF) Newmarket is under construction in 12 months time I think our place in the top 10 of SL will be assured & we'll have nothing more to worry about.
As I've always maintained: 1 stadium will happen & as soon as concrete is mixed the blood will drain from the club left behind. Newmarket is & has always been IMO the single biggest threat to Castleford's independence. I think many others have seen this for years too. Yourself included Fully.
Oh & to be balanced to our flat capped friends, Rich Whiting is one of the most consistent players in SL for me. A real hard worker, but backs it up with great strength & versatility. A yard more pace & he'd be GB everyday for me.

| I never said he played for CT.
You said Ellis was better than anything to come out of Cas.
Ellis was born and raised in Cas, and played in Cas before moving to Wakefield. Therefore, he came out of Cas.

IMO the stadium issue is now nowhere near as critical for license purposes as it is for income generation. We seem to have the bigger problem because we're stuck at WR but does anyone really know how greatly Wakey will benefit from tennancy at NM or whether it will be built before they're again mired in debt.
You're absolutely spot on about Whiting though.

We already are and if we don't get NM soon we won't survive at this level imo.

That is a big IF there Trinitarian. Do you think your attendances will remain constant at NW? I still think it as a massive gamble moving out of the city.

Well then lets merge Leeds/Bradford, Hull/Hull KR, Wigan/Leigh and Widnes/Warrington for all the same reasons and of course looking from the outside.
I'm sick to death of pompous wally's like you demanding we do something that no other clubs are willing to do despite it being exactly the same - now do one.'"
Not the point I was making at all. I never demanded that you HAD to merge. I was just saying that merger might be a more sensible solution than 3 clubs going to the wall.

| Before I close on this v important issue, I will just say Good luck to you 3 great clubs, whichever route you choose for your own survival. I love coming to your grounds which are so special. And if these 3 grounds can be the basis for your futures then brilliant. I just think its unlikely.
In this day and age I just fear the worst and as times and seasons move on, the more the inevitable comes closer. You see I'd just rather the area continues in SL with all that is required today from Clubs and Stadia.
You have a unique opportunity that no other area has. I just want you to see that rather than hang on to the 3 dodgy lifebelts your grounds have become, it is time to hold hands and grab onto that new boat and be prepared to give up part of what each of you have now to create a long term assured future and create sometthing far bigger than any one of you individually could ever become.
At Hull FC our move to the KC has given us something far more than we ever thought it would be when we left our beloved Boulevard. Many then said they'd never go to a new stadium and some still ache for that feeling of a packed boulevard on a big night, me included. But for me its pure nostalgia, would I give up the KC ? never , never , never.
Some big decisions lie ahead for you guys. If Newmarket goes ahead it may yet save Wakefield and Super League in the area. and Cas and Fev will never be the same again in my opinion. If the Newmarket project fails for Wakefield, then if you do not all join hands and try again, it may well be the end of SL for all of you. That is something no-one wants. Dont allow it to happen, come together and do the right thing. Good Luck .
