| Another point to note regarding Mariano - Wakey wanted CT to take him now to help their wage bill and Cas said they didn't want to do that. Next season will be fine.

| if Cas offered him more than wakey (IF!) then it may be due to the fact that they didn't have much more to spend. You guys have already signed a couple for next year, maybe they were taking up the money available?
If he was on 40k, wakey may have said "we cannot afford to increase your wage due to the funds being made available elsewhere" .....cas said "ok we will offer you 45k"
it doesn't seem like wakey "weren't bothered" about keeping him, if they were negotiating a contract - clubs just don't renew them if they aren't bothered.
Cash strapped or not, if you aren't bothered about keeping a player, why negotiate to keep paying his wages?
..........Not that any of that really matters anyway

If thats true then its fair enough.
He did go out to Fev on loan with Fev picking up the wages, part or whole i don't know.

| Quote: Cas Till I Die "So there are no links to our 'financial problems' but yours are public knowledge ??? Bit funny that if we are both 'in the same boat'
Glass houses ??? We have never been in admin or spent what we can't afford at the expense of the club where as Wakefield have done and look like doing it again. tbh I feel this is down to a culture at Wakefield of 'let's finish above Cas at any expense' that's hurting your club.'"
Didn't your then CEO Steve Ferres publicly claim the the club was in a precarious position before launching its member ship. Your money problems are well documented from that meeting.
Yes we went in admin, so have Bradford and London in recent years whats your point? we were punished accordingly (although circumstances worked favorably in the end) [sizeWe are at present a loss making club and so is the majority of SL including Cas Tigers.[/size By going on what the respective clubs big wigs say, Wakefield have a lower playing buget than Cas. I'll bet we consistently have spent less than Cas on our wages over the last few years although I suspect the difference is small. We were never busting the bank to win Challenge Cups and SL titles like Bradford. We always spent enough to survive and Ted was underwriting the losses until he went bust and took some his share back out of the club at the worst possible time. I think your a bit short sighted in your view of us a club to suggest we have a "lets finish above Cas at any expense" mentality.

Why would we want to go now when we was fighting to get him back from Fev. What proof do we have of this or is it just more rumors?

As soon as you put the link up to where I said he hadn't got wages due from Wakefield in the past.

Or more likely was put his value at 40k and not a penny more considering he would more than likely been a back up player.

Weres the straw clutching? You've made a statement that Frankie Mariano didn't get paid his due wages from us. I don't believe that, in our recent documented troubles I know that all players have been paid. So were has this information come from?

Read over, I suggested next year he may not due to your financial situation. And let's be honest you have form in that regard as a club don't you.
My fault really I assumed you had read and understood the thread before contributing. Sorry

well, aye, whatever... As I say it doesn't really matter, it just seemed like that'd been an overlooked possibility.
Either way, if Wakefield didn't want him they wouldn't have offered him 40p let alone 40k

| Pleased with the Mariano signing always seem to play well when I saw him for Wakefield.
Think he will be a good replacement for Thompson (on current form).

I'm struggling to see which overseas player we're terminating when all overseas players have contracts for next season and would cost a bomb to just terminate.

Especially when they need the £40k badly to pay HMRC etc etc etc.
