OK. Tim Bresnan is "from" Cas (ie he has lived in the environs of Cas all his life, was schooled in Cas, played his club cricket for Cas-based teams). He was born in Pontefract General Infirmary Maternity department quite simply because there is no maternity hospital in Cas any more. If you believe that makes him "from" Pontefract, then Colin Cowdrey is from India and Derek Pringle is from Nairobi and Michael Vaughan is from Manchester. None of those people would say that they were "from" those places. They just happened to be born there.

The "Barnsley" joke was a little topical throwaway gag - as Wakefield looking at playing their games at Oakwell in Barnsley. I was trying to show how idiotic it is to try to tell someone where they're from. You certainly picked up on that bit (that it's an idiotic statement to make) but didn't make the connection. Sorry if I was being too subtle for you.

There, now. Was that patronising enough.

So really then he was born in Pontefract and now lives in Cas, that is the subtle difference, oh and I like the way you are now passing your attempt at a geography lesson off as a joke, it might be subtle in your head just plain stupid to me matey as I asked before about you doing stand up if thats the strength of your humour then I doubt it, I do hope I don't come across as patronising as you though icon_rolleyes.gif

Are you saying that they are lying then and that he was not born in Pontefract?

btw in your eagerness to put up your very imformative post your excitement must have got the better of you alfred because if you havent noticed you presed the crazy button 6 times when one would have been sufficient, unless your keyboard is not up to it and you need a new one hth.

could ever be remotely regarded as an attempt at a geography lesson. Especially with the icon_lol.gif at the end. Deary me, we are getting uptight, aren't we. Maybe you should have a nice lie down.

He was born in pontefract maternity unit as that is the local maternity unit, however he grew up in cas, went to to school in cas and played his his first cricket in cas, so he is a cas lad, to say otherwise makes you look a little foolish and sad.

I was born in pontefract hospital, (as are most people from cas, ponte, fev and knottingly and many from normy) i am and always will be a cas lad.

Ben westwood was born in bradford, though he is from normy.

Joanna lumley was born in india, would you not say she is an english actress?

I was born in my mothers house which at that time was sat right on the border of castleford and pontefract, so the dilemma is now am I from cas or pontefract, to help you along a little the rates were paid to castleford borough council, but the post code was Wf8. It then changed when it went to wmdc and the rates are paid to wmdc, also the post code was changed and now it's wf10,I went to school in airedale and went to college in whitwood I then went to uni in derby so please tell me if I'm from cas, point, or even derby eh ........... You are really a waste of seminal fluids aren't you !!

With those credentials, have you considered putting your name down for Ponting's job? icon_wink.gif

He could, though, because if my geography's correct, isn't Australia a suburb of Cas?

[sizeSo, is Tim Bresnan from Castleford or not?[/size

from
The 25-year-old from Castleford, who is a big rugby league fan, was signalled out as a potential star at a young age and was thrust into first-class cricket by Yorkshire as a teenager."[/i

from
Bresnan's fellow Castlefordian hopes that the Melbourne heroics – capped by taking the final wicket to guarantee that England would retain the Ashes – will earn more widespread respect, and a long run in the team."[/i

Castleford lad Bresnan does not do grand gestures and outpourings of emotion beyond the occasional pat on the behind for a team-mate when he takes a catch off his bowling."[/i

TOWNVILLE’S Tim Bresnan again played an important role as England completed their first Ashes win Down Under in 24 years in Sydney."[/i

...and where is Townville?...

just for devilment icon_smile.gif

... I'm sure I heard one of the ITV commentators during the Arsenal v Leeds FA Cup tie refer to one of the LUFC players as "a true Leeds lad from Pontefract" ...
