Was on crutches when we signed him, but had a good season, I seem to recall

Was there a good signing in that 2004 squad? And let's be fair: who of us can predict a season-ending shoulder injury?

We tend to sign players who are overrated, Sherwin is one of them. Add his injury prone ways then, i'd get rid today. He is too inconsistent with his play for me, he will either win the game for us or lose it.

No the things he does more often like set up try after try, despite not playing every game last season he was 3rd for try assists. If you havent noticed this, do you actually watch the games or just read the league express?

Idiot, There are many of the top half backs in this league that would never have achieved what he did down under, So dont come the over-rated - The problem is we signed him 3 years too late
As for the comment, When he is on the field he is our best player by a country mile, And one of the bes players in the league. He orchestrates everything we do and has a hand in at least half of the tries we score, You ask any Cas player who they rate the highest in the side and if Shifty has played, They will say him - He is a top class player, Who happens to be nearing the end of his career, And you cant class a broken foot as injury prone IMO -- Broken bones could happen to anyone at any time

I wouldn't read that sh*te if you payed me. As for watching, you have an 150 mile trip for a home match do you? I still get to 80% of games home and away. Try assists are one stat -do you look at anything else he does?

I do watch everything he does and he does make mistakes same as every other player in the league, he is a 7, his job is to organise the team and set up tries, he does this superbly when he was fit we won the majority of our games, when he hasnt been fit we havent.

Oh dear, name calling, is that allowed on here?
Agreed, he was a good player in Aus, and we did d sign him 3 years too late, so you agree, we have paid for a top dollar Aussie with a big reputation that since he joined us he has failed by and large, to deliver.
He does do some good stuff, he also does some shocking stuff, maybe asked to do much? As for injury prone, whether he injures a different part of his anatomy every season it still counts as injury prone. Can't class a broken bone in his foot as an injury...you are having a laugh my friend

| Sherwin is a really good player, possible the best we have at the mo, but the fact remains he is very injury prone. But surely to release him we would have to pay off the rest of his contract, so there's nothing gained from releasing him.

Not convinced by the number of games we've won with Shifty fit theory, we're not doing too bad at the moment are we? Once TM stopped messing about with Sione in the halves we've done pretty well. I'd also point out how we finished the season last year without Shifty.
As for his mistakes, the most infuriating thing for me is putting too much weight on the grubber time and time again. This has been the case for 2 seasons, wasting chances and repeat sets far too much.
Just my view

| As soon as he was injured we lost 5 straight games.
I'm not saying we can't play without him, as we've proven over the last 6 games but we look a stronger side with him.

| Prior to his injury this season Shifty was the best player in the Cas side more often than not. Since he got injured the same could be said about Chase.
I don't think this illustrates that Chase has stepped out of Sherwin'shadow, rather that Chase has improved immeasurably having got more used to his teammates and possibly with the increased responsibility.
If both players had an extended run in the side together I'm confident we would be a markedly better side.
I'm not convinced there's a player available to replace him who's as good and even if we find someone with a previously unblemished injury record there's no guarantee they won't pick up a broken foot or something similar.

Think this is the main point, who on earth would you replace him with who is OOC ???? it took us nearly a year of looking to find Brough in 2006. Start looking now for a 7 in 2011 and under no circumstances renew his contract..... you could have joey johns in his prime but if he isnt fit on a REGULAR basis then whats the point ???? Sherwin is class at SL level but he hasnt played enough games for us !!!!
