I think we all know that tigerade.
It doesn't need highlighting.
We the fans and the staff from top to bottom of cas tigers know how important a new stadium is.
BUT, no matter how many times it gets highlighted, no matter how many petitions we send in.
All the 100's of emails and letter sent, after 10yrs of all the above, we are still in the same place.
All we seem to get is words and no action.
So another date pops up 6th feb, most get excited and think, this could be it.....our new stadium on the horizon.
Only to be disappointed by, unfortunately plans have been put back another 6 months due to blah blah blah, put in your own excuses.
Sorry for the rant but that's just me being an old cynic.

| I'm not really up to speed on this project. Can somone please explain, is the planning similar to Newmarket? Is it on Green Belt and is it likely to get called to Public Inquiry?

The site is on green belt and yes - it will probably get called to PI IMO.

So going on recent protocol the follwing must happen...
I'll set up a [delfaux[/del Environmental group to express outrage at the loss of greenbelt and its long term impact on childhood asthma. Create a template letter of protest for thousands of fellow [delWakey fans[/del concerned citizens to send to the appropriate authority. Come public inquiry my fellow concerned citizens can make an emotional plea about the Children......What about the children I say? In the mean time I'll try and persuade Mr Carter to send a strongly worded letter to the PI that a community stadium isn't required in such a location because a viable alternative (and truly community inclusive) is been built anyday at Newmarket, i don't see anything unethical in that? If fat Eric is chairing it maybe just maybe he won't be fooled a second time.

Well the jokes on you because what deehell has quoted is a parody of what Richard Wright sent into the Secretary of States Officer during the Public Inquiry into Newmarket.
He was trying to say exactly the opposite of what deehell has said ie. That there was no need for Newmarket because there was a viable alternative at Glasshoughton.

Meanwhile, it's not a very good time to be seeking any financial help from the council to build (or in our case re-build) any community sporting facilities:-
www.wakefield.gov.uk/Pages/News/PR4855.aspx
"Based on current Government indications, the Council is expecting to have to make further savings beyond 2015/16 through to 2019/20 to the value of £66m"
To get to that saving - further job losses within the council, an increase in council tax by 2%, no more sport development activity and a shrinking of public services.
On the plus side, one of WMDC's investments is highlighted as "£15m in Leisure in the Five Towns and South East of the District". I wonder what that could be?

39793_1491679334.jpg "Castleford's biggest home crowd of the 1991-1992 season wasn't quite 12,000 while on average they'd sit around 6000 but the noise, the chanting and the singing just blows you away" - Tawera Nikau "Standing Tall"
"I can tell you the atmosphere was extraordinary at Wheldon Road on big days. The ground held around 15,000 people, every one of them close to the action on the field and the noise would be enough to send a rumble through the town" - Malcolm Reilly "Reilly - A Life in Rugby League":d7dc4b20b2c2dd7b76ac6eac29d5604e_39793.jpg |

I think it is the proposal to close Knottingley Sports Centre, Pontefract, Castleford and other 5 towns swimming pools due to high maintenance costs. Replacing with one new fitness/sports/swimming facilty at Pontefract Park or Prince of Wales site or Glasshoughton and a new pool at Minsthorpe

Capital and revenue budgets are often (rightly) different pots though.

| I thought this land went through the PI when LCC was pushing it as an alternative for NM. I also thought it had already been allocated for development therefore it would be unlikely to go to a PI, especially with the fat man favouring local issues being decided by local authorities, and let's be honest Box ain't going to knock this back.
