| Quote Tricky2309="Tricky2309"Quote Tricky2309="RED LEAGUE"I'll be surprised if Cas or Wakefield get their stadiums built, the way this country is going id be surprised to see anything built in the near future? I mean this government are knocking back new schools and hospitals so can't see them letting local councils spend millions on new stadiums, I believe we at Salford are very very lucky to have a new stadium to go into this year and had everything passed and build started before the condems came in to power, because if it were a year later I don't think we'd even have a stadium under construction right now.
I know it sounds negative but this is the way the country is going at the moment.'"
But neither are being paid for by the Council. They are merely offering both clubs land to the value of 2m to secure borrowing against'"
Its getting rather frustrating the amount of neutral fans who think we are getting the council to build the stadiums isnt it?

It certainly is; the volume of people who have an opinion on what both clubs should do without actually being in possession of any facts is exceptionally irritating.

| Quote Inflatable_Armadillo="Inflatable_Armadillo"Quote Inflatable_Armadillo="Tigerade""When I learned that Tesco had pulled out of negotiations with Opus for WR, again, I thought carefully about it, but only for a short time!"
Quick question then IA - Why (in this mornings P & C Express) have Tesco announced their objection to the E House development? Are they looking at the 3rd site or is Wheldon Road back in favour for them?'"
I understand that they are looking at two other site options in Castleford that they feel are going to be more cost effective to develop and hence the reason they are currently no longer looking at WR. The issue with Wheldon Road for them was the 1 in 100 year flood levels and their stipulation that a store on stilts would be their preferred option to make this site work because of the insurance risk that supermarkets like to carry to reduce their premiums. It is only a low flood risk, but when you have other site options in the area that you think are going to be cheaper to bring to fruition, then that would be their preferred option. Tesco have massively overspent on their new store development budgets for the last two years and as they look to maintain their shareholder dividends, by maintaining their overall profitability against increasing energy costs, they are looking to reduce store development costs.
It is possible that Tesco may find other issues with the other site options and return to WR, but this looks unlikely at the moment.
Tesco are objecting to EH because they don't want the site, and to be fair, neither does anyone else, so they would like to remove a potential obstacle blocking any other site that they might like to develop in the future.'"
You're not far off with the above
(btw, I work for Tesco so hear things before anyone starts saying I am just rumour mongering!)

A) You don't know me
B) You don't know what I know or who I know for that matter.
C) You claim delusion but yet you've not posted any facts other than that you work for Tesco. You could be a check-out operator for all I know.
D) Why shall we see? Surely if Tesco HAVE pulled out, there would be nothing to see?
E) You've not enlightened us on anything except you work for Tesco.
F) A quick look through your post history would suggest you're a Featherstone fan, perhaps one who hates Cas anyway. I would therefore suggest that your comments do nothing but try to raise a few bites, with no real substance. It is the off-season after all.

Only posted for info, but seeing as you have taken the typical c@s fan stance (confrontational)....
A) You don't know me
B) Correct
C) Yes , I work for Tesco, part of the SMT if you need to know.
D) Other sites are more suitable at a lot less cost.
E) See D , so yes, something to wait and see!
F) Yes, I am Fev fan but also a rugby fan who prefers to see rugby played in Fev, Cas, Wakey et al as opposed the the crazy 'expansion' areas like Toulouse and Crusaders, so you may see my comments were not meant in any malice, just what I had heard.
Btw, I live in C@s and a lot of my friends are C@s fans. I have had a similar conversation with them and they didn't meet my comments with the hostility / confrontation that you have.
I attend C@s matches with them when Fev are not playing and they attend Fev matches when C@s are not playing. Piece and love n all that, its the rugby we watch and wear our colours either way!!!!

| The only way the general public will know how Tesco side in the short to medium term is:
a) In a press release from Castleford, presumably Mr Wright telling the fans that alternative arrangements have to be found, or even better have already been found, because Opus have been unable to secure a client (for the Wheldon Road site).
b) Opus & Tescos submit an application for another site, this you would imagine would prompt option a,
As Fully said, in terms of proof Tesco have overlooked Wheldon Road there won't be any, in the short to medium term anyway. Can you imagine the damage releasing a press statement letting the public know the Wheldon Road deal with Opus was dead in the water?
For the reason of lack of proof/evidence I would take more notice to what people such as Inflatable Armadillo say. He has no battle to fight with you & is privy to information not available to most. If things are the way he tells it I would imagine your hierachy will be working flat out to find another client, or even another potential developer if Opus are more concerned with Tesco, which in it's self is hardly unsurprising.
Things aren't as doom & gloom as some Wakefield fans would have you believe, you hold a decent hand in terms of owning your ground & having a decent amount of land to go with it. That will see you through to your goal in the end, it's just about timing & that's down to the pressure the RFL place on development.
Personally I'm more concerned with what we're doing 2 junctions down the motorway, but good luck in your ventures with the move.

| After reading Thursdays Cas n Ponti it seems clear to me that Tescos are not involved with the Opus/WR project. The question is who is, if anyone?
It seems convenient that the planning application is due to go in after the announcement on the Newmarket PI results is known. Come to think of if, over the last few years a lot of Glasshoughton related events seem to coincide with what ever is happening at Newmarket. Call me a cynic but I can’t help but think the events are related!

Then you would also be wrong. The end date has nothing to do with Newmarket (as much as you seem to think it always is).
