| It will be a Marks and Spencer's. Large one. If that classes as a Supermarket, also know this to be true.

| Could certainly do with both clubs getting sorted quickly, that would put the cat amongst the pigeons at Red Hall!

| I'm actually incredibly optimistic about all this. It looks like they've actually got their act together before announcing it.

| Having been up for a look today (a lot of people turned up, btw!) the only concern I have will be traffic, the new junction looks like a bit of a mess and it appears that's the only way you're allowed to exit the stadium which is obviously going to cause a bottle neck. It will need a lot of traffic control and mass transit to stop it being a nightmare ala Salford.

The new junction is going to cost them £10m Gronk... that is big chunk of money to spend, plus £12m/£13m on a stadium, and get it wrong! It will be busy on match days but equally who says match days will be on Sunday's in future!!! I don't know anything about that BTW, pure speculation.
I think it won't be a Salford because it opens out directly on to a motorway and three other larger roads that lead in all directions. Salford's stadium opens up onto a single small local road a good 3/4 mile from the motorway junction. I think with override signal controls to enable traffic to exit after the match as quickly as possible, the majority of the time it will be much easier than it is now to get about at other peak times. Also, it solves the Sainsbury Supermarket issue and I suspect B&Q will move out and over the road to make way for them as well as the proposed other food store on Five Towns Park.
I went along, had a good natter with Mick and the Lateral guys and now I have seen the proposal in full, it gets my full support. Equally, what a great deal for Cas Tigers and the fans! Well done to the Cas board and Wakefield Council for getting this together. I think it has a high degree of success and as I said to one of the Lateral guys tonight, I will walk through Cas Town centre naked if this gets called in for a public inquiry... he said he would hold me to it if it did!
That all said, I am of course reserving full rights to rip the proverbial out of quite a large number of posters on this and the Cas Forum (not you Gronk BTW), who seem to have inadvertently lost any and all moral objection to building on recently renewed Green Belt land (and even green field and not brown field land at that) overnight, and taking the developers shilling in return for getting him planning permission?

Will hold my hands up to this.
However, at least the developers have accounted for this by including a nature park in the plans which would mitigate the loss of land and it still looks very green. It's also next to existing development too.
In contrast, Newmarket wasn't near to any development, was out in the sticks and was going to be surrounding swathes of warehousing.
But without turning this back into a Newmarket v Cas argument, it looks great plans but firmly believe they need to revise their plans to have a road from Spittal Hardwick lane. This will allow for traffic coming from Ponte/Knottingley way without having to direct them through Xscape roundabout.
