Prefer mine it actually has a quote from Peter Gentle
Also no matter what happened he couldn't have played tonight even if he'd have signed yesterday he wouldn't have been registered in time and why exactly does he need to change a work permit ??

So no need to wonder
Answer me this one then. How come in 2009 Cas were deferring players players wages when in 2006 Cas led the charge against Wigan for deferring wages which as a result of the investigation was then ruled to be "against the spirit of the cap" and so against the rules?

Because Wigan did it to avoid going over the salary cap, Cas did it for financial relief...massive difference.
Wigan cheated, deal with it.

You think we have even come close to breaking the salary cap?
Also in 2009 it was a live cap so the rfl would have been fully aware.
Wigan cheated to stay up, accept it, it happened.

I am sure Wigan could have dreamt up that excuse at the time and there was nothing in the rules (at the time) to preclude what Wigan did for whatever reason. It was basically a witch hunt where a matter of opinion ("spirit of the cap"icon_wink.gif as opposed to a rule was used to get the end result. The irony is that the club that lead the charge against Wigan deferring wages had to do it themselves. The reason is irrelevant.

Apart from it is.
Wigan did it to hide breaking the salary cap and as such avoided relegation - which is cheating.
Now stop trolling.

| I cant believe some wigan fans still dont believe they cheated in 06, have you accepted the earth is not flat yet?
Did wigan defer payments to get round the cap in order to cheat the cap and stay up, without the consent of the rfl? yes, that's cheating.
Did cas defer payments with the full knowledge of the rfl that took us no where near the cap and in no way benefit our league position? yes, thats not cheating.

Did Cas try to change the phasing of multiple existing contracts to allow them to sign extra players that would have taken them over the cap?
Or did they just delay the payment under an existing contract as they were struggling for cash, which had absolutely zero impact on their salary cap?

It's madness isn't it.
Effectively, Saints could ask each of their players to defer 10% of their salary until the following year and do it every year, which would give them that extra money to spend on a player every year.
Provided all your new players defer the same amount too, it never catches up with you and you're perpetually over the cap by 10%. But that is fine apparently.
