If the referee thinks a try would probably been scored then he can award a penalty try. That's all there is to it.

The ref was bad for both teams, simple as. Things went for and against both sides.

You Cas fans are blaming the loss of the game on the ref decisions, truth is your discipline was bad and let you down, hence the penalty count.

As for the hot topic of the was it a penalty try? It was not beyond a shadow of a doubt he would have scored it, so therefore not a penalty try.

Your a good side and for your second season back up are making great progress, TM is obviously a great coach and will take you far.

I like Cas and think you have some great fans, but all this complaining is making you sound like sore losers. IMO there was not a decision that "lost you the game" a culmination of poor discipline and panicking in attacking positions was why you lost the game. Get some bodies back and you will win more than you lose.

From the angle I was at in the east stand it looked as though Fox ran the same angle as the Cas player and simply shouldered him (which is within the rules)

From what I've been told the Ref was bad for both teams. It's become a classic Matterson after match rant now, blame the ref not the team. It's so predictable it's boring.

I didn't attend the game but from what's been said on here it doesn't sound like a penalty try should have been awarded.

As has been mentioned already by KR fans, unless the ref is very close to 100% certain that a try would have been awarded then he shouldn't award a penalty try. If Dixon didn't even have the ball in his hands I can't see how he could be certain that he would have scored hence it sounds like a penalty only should have been awarded - I presume one was?!

In the previous couple of games refs have made crucial decisions that have gone against us. Whilst the butterfly effect means you don't know whether Cas would have won had the ref given a different decision it's fair to say the decision didn't help in what were 2 very tight games.

As far as I recall, Morgan had a right old go at the ref in a game that KR were comprehensively beaten. I'd have thought that Matterson has at least as much right to complain in a tight game where one or two refs decisions could conceivably have made the difference...

The RL authorities should throw the book at him, after every loss he spouts up about the ref, it's becoming a joke He's undermining the the respect of the Refs. Even after been awarded 15 penalties to 5 against Huddersfield he still went on one of his rants. It's getting that embarrassing it makes me cringe!
