| Quote: imwakefieldtillidie "Where as the current rules are punishing the English players who could be playing in his place. You can twist this as much as you want, but the only reason you're supporting Chase playing for England is because he's a Castleford player. Let's say Vince Mellars decides to make himself available for England and as a result keeps out Joe Arundel for arguements sake, I don't believe for a minute that any of you will be coming on here saying "Well done Vince". Rangi Chase is a mercenary. If he has to no loyalty to his country, I can't see him having much for Castleford.'"
Funnily enough, I don't see any young/current English players kicking up a fuss about his selection?
If Vince Mellars was eligible, was good enough for selection (i.e. winning Man of Steel) and subsequently did well in a game in England colours I'd be the same as for Rangi.
I also didn't care when Fa'asavalu played for England. TBH, I'd love to have a few Islanders (or similar build) playing for England in the forwards. We might actually win something then.

And we still managed to sell-out Elland Rd didn't we? Obviously, Chase's unjustified selection had fans leaving the game in droves......

| Quote: imwakefieldtillidie "No, Chase knows that when he has to re-apply for a visa he has no chance due to his off field behaviour. So he knows his best option is not rock the boat, show stability by staying at Castleford (on a better contract) and apply for citizenship so that when a big club comes calling he won't have to re-apply for the visa. What better way to support this than by representing England? He knows he won't command the same money in the NRL. Even the most biased Castleford fans know this (even if they won't admit it publicly) and are going to make the most of having such a good player at the club for the next few seasons.'"
Or the most obsessed Wakefield fans who have nothing better to do than speculate, rumour-monger and make up rubbish about anything Castleford?

| Chase was rubbish, they were all rubbish.
There is a reason Chase is in SL. SL is a second rate comp and he is a second rate player like almost all the overseas player in SL. That's not a dig at him he may well return to the NRL one day and stake his claim. He also took the field with a team full of second raters and the were all 100% British.
Only Morley who was once world class and Ellis who has managed to attain a decent standard as an NRL player can be considered exempt and in Morleys case that is in the past tense. How sad is that.
To blame Chase would be churlish in the extreme. He is not to blame for the state we find ourselves in. That lays at the feet of a weak RFL and greedy short termist clubs of which Cas and Wakey and the rest are guilty of being.
Until the Chases of this world are a rarity and not the rule we will continue as a nation to fail - and I say again that is not the fault of Chase who like the rest of his new team mates simply wasn't good enough.
Shame we had to go through the last few month to work that out when it was obvious from the start.

Elland Road capacity is 38,304 the attendance was 34,174...and the top tier in the East was closed which covers that 4000 so there wasn't 8000 empty seats HTH

You cannot seriously be comparing the policies of Wakefield and Castleford in terms of recruitment and development of youth can you? The two are poles apart and as for short-termism; Chase - 2015, Clark - 2017, Owen 2015, Milner 2014. Hardly a sign of short-termism.

The maximum capacity allowed was sold out. And I suspect demand would have been significantly higher had the remaining tiers been opened.

Give it a rest, Wakefields youth policy up until administration was every bit as good if not better than Castlefords. You are the one who is deluded my friend. So you have tied down 4 players one of whom isn't British WOW no BIG WOW.
We have signed Johnson, Marriano and Amor long term, so snap and again BIG WOW.
If you read the franchise reports it singled Wakefield out as having the BEST and I repeat BEST youth development programme in SL so don't peddle your pap to me.
That said it's still poor and so is yours, just for once try not to be parochial and blinkered and accept reality. Honest to god you're the ultimate photo fit for the typical myopic blinkered fan. Oh wait there's bloomers and co yet to comment so I take that back.
Both teams should be brimming over with local players with people like Chase and Tim Smith begging for a game, the fact that you seem to see the pathetic efforts made by yourselves as planning long term is truly sad.

| Superleague Licence report for Wakefield Trinity Wildcats - Grade C
Wakefield Trinity Wildcats’ application confirmed that new ownership has injected enthusiasm, capital and business acumen into the club. The business plan provided achievable targets for growing the business, and a realistic strategy to reach these targets. Wakefield’s performance on the field and player supply across the current Licence period has been acceptable and their community programme is excellent. However commercial, financial and governance performance in this Licence period has been poor, with the club entering administration in February of 2011. The club continues to face a number of challenges. The stadium position is uncertain, and the significant challenge for the club will be to deliver the commercial and supporter growth required to allow the club to trade in a sustainable manner whilst improving competitiveness on the pitch.
Can't see anywhere in there that states "Wakefield having the BEST and I repeat BEST youth development programme in SL".
Deluded, Pap-peddling - erm ??

Indeed; that would explain the over-reliance and continued over reliance on overseas players, whereas pre-administration we stayed within the limits set out by the RFL without any exemptions whatsoever. Even now we only have four overseas players.
Quote: vastman "We have signed Johnson, Marriano and Amor long term, so snap and again BIG WOW.'"
But none of them are your own youth products are they Vasty? Equally, they're not on four or five year deals are they Vasty? Long term indicates just that - long term. Not mid or short term.
Quote: vastman "If you read the franchise reports it singled Wakefield out as having the BEST and I repeat BEST youth development programme in SL so don't peddle your pap to me.'"
No it doesn't. That's Wakefield fans rumour-mongering again. See the above post; 'Wakefield's player supply has been acceptable'. In contrast, Castleford's saysThat said it's still poor and so is yours, just for once try not to be parochial and blinkered and accept reality. Honest to god you're the ultimate photo fit for the typical myopic blinkered fan. Oh wait there's bloomers and co yet to comment so I take that back.'"
Except we have produced an England international in Michael Shenton, an England train-on squad/England Knights member in Joe Westerman, and England Knights members in Joe Arundel and Jonathan Walker. Additionally, our squad contains approximately 13 homegrown players all who have played first-team rugby in Super League along with a further three promoted this term. It is in no way blinkered - the evidence is patently in front of you.
Quote: vastman "Both teams should be brimming over with local players with people like Chase and Tim Smith begging for a game, the fact that you seem to see the pathetic efforts made by yourselves as planning long term is truly sad.'"
Why would Chase have to beg for a game. He's a quality player. You build a team around him; you cannot replace him. Tim Smith on the other hand, I (and no doubt others) remain to be convinced on that front.
