It depends what we aspire to. Lower, mid-table mediocrity? He's probably your man, but apaprt from a reasonable short spell at Salford he doesn't strike me as cutting edge. Far preferable to Lowes or Hay, mind.

| just dont give the new coach a 3 year deal because if whoever you get dosent work out you end up paying money you cant afford if all these coaches are "cas in the blood" they will sign a 1 year deal with options

| Andy Hay was potentially the best Cas forward of his generation, he seemed to have it all for a back row forward. It went astray at Cas, he ended up at Leeds where he thought he was a hard man in an otherwise hard team. He has had a constant scowl on his face ever since & I don't think I have seen him utter a single word in 10 years. What he brings to coaching is beyond me. Powell on the otherhand I have admired massively as a person, player & coach.

| Hay is thought of massively as a great up an coming coach evening spending time in the NRL last year watching coaching methods paid for by the RFL.
He would be a good appointment for you guys imo.

I don't think you should under estimate mid table obscurity.
I think being stable in that position is what Wakefield, Cas, Salford, Hull KR Widnes are all striving for. None are going to be making a run on the GF but to be stable at the top of the low money clubs (I realise Salford are no jumping out of that grouP) is a good thing.

| I would hate to see Hay take on the Cas job, we would revert back to the Matterson style of play & end up worse off than appointing Orr, even though he is inexperienced, i do want a Cas lad for the job, but at the moment he is at our near neighbors, & i don't think Cas will want to pay for his release

There's a lot to challenge in your post, tigertot.
Best cas forward of his generation is a viewpoint i have never heard uttered, in regard to Hay.
Went astray at Cas? well the expiry of his contract definitely did, as he was allowed to sign for sheffield without receiving a renewed deal.
Glossing over your opinion of him at Leeds, where he managed to win a challenge cup medal and play for GB and England in the World cup, people are rarely what they seem, unless you have some regular interaction with them. Amongst the people, who are acquaintances of both guys, few would agree with your assessment of their personality types.
However, I'm only interested in the best coach for Cas at this point in time..
Give Aston a try for me, he's waited all his life for this and he would clear some of the deadwood out, that's for sure.

Isn't Aston both owner and coach of Sheffield? Coach aside would he have time to coach Cas and be owner of the Eagles? Or more to the point would he want it? He seems a pretty big fish in a small pond at the moment.

You seem to have misread my post, whether deliberately I have no idea. I said potentially. I watched his progression through the A team, he could fit in on the wing when required such was his pace. He reminded in some ways of Andy Timson, another fantastic prospect who, for reasons, didn't achieve his potential.
