| "When I learned that Tesco had pulled out of negotiations with Opus for WR, again, I thought carefully about it, but only for a short time!"
Quick question then IA - Why (in this mornings P & C Express) have Tesco announced their objection to the E House development? Are they looking at the 3rd site or is Wheldon Road back in favour for them?

| Thats what I was thinking Fully.
Interesting reading in this morning's Cas & Ponte. Some good letters worth a look at. One in particular that points out how much EH would be unpopular to the Cas public if they were to be successful and it cost Tigers a place in SL.

I understand that they are looking at two other site options in Castleford that they feel are going to be more cost effective to develop and hence the reason they are currently no longer looking at WR. The issue with Wheldon Road for them was the 1 in 100 year flood levels and their stipulation that a store on stilts would be their preferred option to make this site work because of the insurance risk that supermarkets like to carry to reduce their premiums. It is only a low flood risk, but when you have other site options in the area that you think are going to be cheaper to bring to fruition, then that would be their preferred option. Tesco have massively overspent on their new store development budgets for the last two years and as they look to maintain their shareholder dividends, by maintaining their overall profitability against increasing energy costs, they are looking to reduce store development costs.
It is possible that Tesco may find other issues with the other site options and return to WR, but this looks unlikely at the moment.
Tesco are objecting to EH because they don't want the site, and to be fair, neither does anyone else, so they would like to remove a potential obstacle blocking any other site that they might like to develop in the future.

| I'll be surprised if Cas or Wakefield get their stadiums built, the way this country is going id be surprised to see anything built in the near future? I mean this government are knocking back new schools and hospitals so can't see them letting local councils spend millions on new stadiums, I believe we at Salford are very very lucky to have a new stadium to go into this year and had everything passed and build started before the condems came in to power, because if it were a year later I don't think we'd even have a stadium under construction right now.
I know it sounds negative but this is the way the country is going at the moment.

But neither are being paid for by the Council. They are merely offering both clubs land to the value of 2m to secure borrowing against

Its getting rather frustrating the amount of neutral fans who think we are getting the council to build the stadiums isnt it?

It certainly is; the volume of people who have an opinion on what both clubs should do without actually being in possession of any facts is exceptionally irritating.

You're not far off with the above
(btw, I work for Tesco so hear things before anyone starts saying I am just rumour mongering!)

A) You don't know me
B) You don't know what I know or who I know for that matter.
C) You claim delusion but yet you've not posted any facts other than that you work for Tesco. You could be a check-out operator for all I know.
D) Why shall we see? Surely if Tesco HAVE pulled out, there would be nothing to see?
E) You've not enlightened us on anything except you work for Tesco.
F) A quick look through your post history would suggest you're a Featherstone fan, perhaps one who hates Cas anyway. I would therefore suggest that your comments do nothing but try to raise a few bites, with no real substance. It is the off-season after all.
