| Quote: Bonzo "You're right, I don't know you. Nor do you know me so why you're referring to me as 'pal' is a mystery, unless you're engaging in some attempt at a humorous irony. My interpretation is based on your keyboard persona. You may be sound as a pound in person, so why be different on here if that's the case?
I don't believe I said Wigan weren't playing within the rules of the game. Indeed what I believe has happened is a number of fans have become aggreived with what's perceived to be a dangerous tackling technique, the interpretation of which is unclear on the part of the governing body.
As I said I have no figures on this, it's purely a perception - I don't recall a time when there has seemed to be quite so many injuries. Do you have any figures to share on this?'"
all tainted by the fact you have just lost against us, and couldnt break us down that well

Do you have any awareness of what this debate is about because it really doesn't seem that way. Try having a re-read before making another pathetic trolling attempt.

| yeah course i do, but it seems to be after any team loses against us this debate happens, therefore making it sound like sour grapes,
rugby league has never been safe, infact there are less serious injuries now than ever before, we are doing nothing wrong in the tackle, your teams just cant cope and if we carry on wrapping our players up in cotton wool we might as well just go play tick and pass, and fall even more behind the aussies,

Sour grapes? I have absolutely no sour grapes towards last night's defeat what so ever. I actually expected us to get quite a severe beating and I felt our performance suggested that we have some excellent young talent in the ranks at Cas who are hungry for the game and to do well for their town. They gave Wigan a real tough game with the odds stacked against them and the players and fans can be proud of that fact.
I wouldn't say we couldn't cope either - both teams had a good go at smashing eachother about although a fair number of those in the East stand didn't seem to happy about that judging by the moans.
What's keeping us a long way behind the Aussies in my opinion is the fact that teams that employ slowing tactics (i.e. Wakefield, Crusaders, Bradford, Harlequins, Salford) are allowed to get away with it. They should be being penalised and forced to accommodate those teams that want to play an expansive game. Last night was a good example of two teams that like to give the ball some air, doing just that. But unfortunatley, even the fastest teams here aren't at the pace of the NRL, nor will they be if the play-the-ball isn't speeded up and controlled across the board.

| Its not their tackling technique that gets to me its when other deploy similar tactics against them....slowing the play the ball down & then pie eaters are up in arms about it all complaining like there's no tomorrow!
Tomkin brothers are ones for their snide grabbing hold of the tackler technique to win a penalty which really gets up my a*$e.......I have full respect for the both of them regarding rugby skills but these snide actions are just plain cheating IMO and should be cut out by the officials.

| I certainly would. Wigan are NOT breaking the rules. Lets get that straight. But they have developed a style that needs a rule change. Fairly groundbreaking to be fair. They often hold up players and the third man dives at the lower limb, below the knee - Cannonballing. This is dangerous.
They also employ numerous twisting techniques once the pace of the collision has gone. This isnt grappling, but has the same dangerous effect. They of course arent the only onces who do this, but they do do it the most.
If this becomes a trend then serious joint injuries will increase.
I couldnt give a monkey what team it is, but its something the RFL needs to take a very serious view of. I do not for one minute think Wigan do it to injure players. They do it to dominate the PTB, and it does work - but it doesnt make it right.
You dont need statistical evidence, although Im sure it would be easy to compile. You just need eyes and a brain!

I have not once seen a Cas player attack the ball carriers knee whilst held up in a tackle.

Apologies if im wrong, but you dont seem very bright or able to read.
My post clearly states it does not break the rules - but is a new worrying trend that needs addressing.
I also state your not the only team that does it, but it is more prevelant with Wigan than any other teams.
Hope the big words dont cause confusion!!

You're wasting your time Truewiganer, they're moron's, there only seems to be Bonzo that can actually have a discussion. As for Cheshire Tiger blinkered is not the word! I bet if they played Hudds next week and got stuffed he would be spouting the same drivel about tackling technique. Clearly a very bitter individual that vents his frustration at other teams so called techniques rather than considering his own teams failings.
Wigan play within the rules and are top of the table. End of

Is there really any need? I don't think that's the best way to generate sensible debate and discussion is it?
