Quote: spanishbob "Excuse my complete ignorance in the planning application laws, but does this put you in any different position to Wakefield, who have made a planning appliction, which has been called for government approval?

After all by submitting a planning application you are not guaranteed that the council will approve it?

Not having a pop, hope everything goes well and there is a 13,000 stadium in Castleford in the near future, just curious.'"

Outline planning permission must be applied for 1st. This is, as the name suggests, when an outline of the proposed build is presented for approval. Its at this point that objections are heard and considered and the government have the opportunity to call the plan in for further scrutiny.

Castleford went through this in 2008 without any hitches.

Wakefield did this only a couple of months ago and although approved by the council the plan has now been called in for consideration by the government which will result in a sizeable delay even if the plan is ultimately approved.

Once OPP has been granted a detailed planning application has to be submitted within 3 yrs. This provides the exact plans of the proposed build based on architects designs. Provided the new design does not differ markedly from the outline plan the granting of planning permission should occur within weeks of the application.

Castleford are about to submit this. Wakefield have to wait until the government is satisfied with the outline planning permission before they can do so.

Well done cas, I for one, hope you pull it off, and your finances are in place. As for us, we will have to see, I have a strong feeling our inquiry is going to be dealt with much sooner than anyone thought.
But for now, your Xmas turkey is gonna taste that bit sweeter than ours.
Like I said I hope it all goes well, and it makes your Xmas and new year!!! icon_cheers.gif

Going to be a good day for Cas, heard lots of different stories but if outline planning permission was granted in 2008, what's been the reason for the delay in waiting for full permission?

Removal of the Hicksons Licence which has prevented us from selling The Jungle, a challenging economic climate, etc etc.

Thank you for this clarification, which does show how this differs from the Wakefield situation, however.

I have just read the planning regulations and it states that Outline Planning Permission is just no objections in principal and is not a consent to build. Detailed planning permission has to be submitted for consent, however these could still be refused.

I hope that everything goes well and you have good reasons to celebrate. For me its just a shame that Wakefield wont consider a ground share, as Glasshoughton is in Wakefield postcode area after all.

Don't forget the council we are asking for permission from are also helping with £2m towards the build costs. They've already recently confirmed this support. It would be highly unlikely that they would now say that our proposal at Glasshoughton cannot go ahead.

I think every stage we go through people are going to doubt us until there stood in it, and even then i reckon a few of the wakey fans will still be repeating to themselves 'cas havent got funding, cas havent got funding......' like a mantra.

Good luck. I wish we could get some good news for once.

I'll miss the games between us at BV and particularly at the Jungle, always good banter over a few sociable pints. I fear that this may be the last season ever that we play each other at all.
For all that our current grounds are lacking in facilities, I honestly think that the atmosphere completely changes in new stadia I've experienced this at football matches of the club I support.

Merry Christmas to all supporters of RL around the world.

I hope you are right and its just a formality. I always liked coming to Cas and hopefully (if we ever get back into Superleague) it will be in a nice shiny new stadium.

I also wish good luck to Wakefield and hope they can get their sorted out. I am one of those who think that the Crusaders should be the team for the drop, after all they will have been in administration within the last 3 years when their application is submitted, which is the reason that Widnes was refused a licence the last time around. a026.gif

Good turnout, free mince pies (No Brandy!) and lots of smiling faces.

Listening to Architect on Tiger TV saying to try to emulate the Jungle........Colliseum's atmosphere close proximity to the pitch and also 6000 standing 'stand' opposite main stand are included to help.

Although the atmosphere of the jungle is brilliant, it's definately time we move onto a better stadium to bring in more fans and i think it will definately do that.

I stopped going down the lane a few years ago due to it's rubbish seating and standing areas - not being able to get a decent view - scruffy food stands and big queues for toilets.

I'll definately be going to every game in the new stadium i can. It's much better to have a good seated area.
