For the record (and according to the Wakey board) Gledhill was playing for Westgate Redoubt and was offered contracts from Wakey, Cas and Leeds, opting for Wakey as it is his home town club (born in Horbury).

This loan signing could end up being more.Hes well behind Tomkins,hansen,mossop, bailey and if Farrell hadnt playing last thursday for widnes then he would have been on the bench against you men..I can see Tuson stayng long term.

Others may have gone because they were offered more money, felt their careers lie elsewhere, they weren't developing quickly enough etc. Loyalty to your hometown club is a rare commodity these days, money talks and I would much rather have a stable financial footing than be held to ransom by some POTENTIAL 'star' in the making.

As a glass half full kind of guy, and having watched cas for 20+ years, I predict no good will come of it.

Some people are moaning- sack the board, sack the coach, the players arent good enough etc but i cant remember a season when that wasnt the case, we had a good season last year and people moaned from start to finnish. On here and cas forum some posters dont post unless its to say something negative about the club.

I think bringing in some extra bodies when we have a tough easter schedule up ahead is the right move, at the moment going into the game against the taffs we have 23 players fit at most, lose a couple to injury and we are facing a tough easter programme with 21 players, which of course would result in yet more moaning on here.

It was interesting that they mentioned on Radio Leeds on Sunday that there's genuine frustration amongst the Cas fans at the moment at the fact that young players are not being given opportunities in the first team, despite there being several successes with blooding them in the last couple of years.

For some reason this gravy train seems to have come shuddering to a halt but there's no obvious reason why. If we have so many good young players, why do we have such a thin squad that we have to loan from other clubs? Is that they're deemed not ready? Is that they're deemed not good enough? If they're not ready, then what are the coaching staff doing to get them ready and to prevent them from upping sticks. If they're not good enough then why are they here in the first place?

Think that we are expecting to unearth another Westy/Owen, the instances when we have a ready made star from the academy are seldom seen and we may have been spoilt a little with the aforementioned two. If a player takes longer to graduate through the academy but ultimately becomes as good as these two, then a little patience is required. It can be frustrating when you see other clubs promoting from their academy (whether this is down to better coaching or a simple luck of the draw is debatable).

Personally, I think our problem is a lack of cash, most of which is presumably being pumped into securing the financing of the new stadium and in turn this is, again presumably, leaving us not being able to offer some of the younger players the wages they are demanding.

It's not a black and white issue and unless you are privy to contract negotiations and being a member of the squad, all the hearsay/gossip/chinese whispers are just that.

Whilst I agree with all of that, I can't understand why there should be finance issues with regards to signing young players. Presumably they're not going to be on big contracts, nor do they need to be. As you say, we're not privy to contract negotiations and such, but as far as the cap goes one would assume that it makes more financial sense to blood 2 or 3 young players instead of signing an experienced player on a high wage, should the finances be available.
