I believe that would be Ian Millward, who also deemed Steve Nash good enough for Super League (he's now back at Leigh on loan, unless his time there has finished).

He was recommended to the club by Dale Fritz and Cas offered him a deal to see what he could do. It was never made as a major signing - more a let's see what you can do contract.

From his Twitter feed, my impression he's leaving for Aus today.

The Nash signing was very strange. I'd seen him play on numerous occasions and was staggered when Millward took him to Cas. He was very, very average at Championship level.

Millward is signing another of his Leigh lads next season. Jamie Ellis from Hull. He is an overweight scrum half who is out of his depth in Super league. Infact a bit like Millward.

Oh and that Jimmy Grehan, a player who didn't do anything on trial with Leigh and got released by Cas (after being on loan at Batley) has signed for St George, one of the best teams in the NRL...if that's the case good luck to the lad.

He's got some ability - mainly a nice sidestep, but there's no way he's NRL quality. The St.George thing must be a joke, surely? Having seen every game that he's played for Batley, I can safely say that at best he's a top-end Championship player.

At the time we got him, he was worth a look at, especially as Dale Fritz recommended him. Sadly he wasn't up to it and he moved on but good luck to the guy for the future. I think Fritzy was a far better player than a talent spotter!
