It does not mean it is untrue though. Wording is all important in the press, it does not say he may have to go back, it says he must. It's hardly liable if this is wrong though. Just incorrect reporting. What would be liablous would be if there was no case at all.
Who knows what will happen, the lawyers may adjuorn, it could be a Tuesday appearance in which case, flight over on Sunday night, sleep appear, back on tuesday night sleep wed and thurs, train friday, pre match saturday and sunday well he maybe back to normal.
The closer to Friday the court date, the more concerning this story will be.'"
That's what worries me, if there is a court case and it is at the end of the week. We need to have a fully fit Rangi Chase firing on all cylinders next Sunday.

| There is no way to tell until it happens though, if it was an early week appearance I imagine the Tigers would want him out there and rested already.
I suppose in the end if he don't turn up what are they going to do? Start extradition proceedings?

| Does Sydney not have lists of court hearings?
I've not seen any evidence to support The Sun's article yet other than forum postings. So at the moment, in my belief, I'm in the 'I'll believe it when I see it/hear it' camp

| Shenton accepted less money at St Helens than Cas offered him to stay - decided to go to a side that were competing to win trophies and had a brand spanking new stadium on the horizon. As a Saints player no-one bats an eyelid if he's selected for the national side whereas whilst at Cas he knew he'd have to prove himself that extra bit more to get selected.
Whilstever we continue to play out of the dilapidated old ground we'll never generate the income to compete at the top table, which is the REAL reason why we need to get the new ground built and not simply to 'tick a box' for the purpose of the franchises. The same applies to Wakefield....

At the end of the day they can't say we need to sell our best players because we can't compete in the market place. The off season should be interesting I wonder what the excuse will be for selling Rangi
In recent memory we have sold 1 player- westerman can even remember the last player cas sold before him.
You have sold-ferguson, pitts, atkins, brough, millard, obst, ellis, solomona
any i have missed?
so which is the selling club in the district?

Although we didn't technically sell him, Michael Platt went for a fee to Bradford if I remember rightly. Didn't we insert a clause in his contract?

Something to do with him being under a certain age meant that we could get a transfer fee. It was only about £10k though wasn't it?

wnf is correct. The £10k figure was set by tribunal as the Bulls disputed the need for a fee, believing relegation to have rendered his contract to be invalid. A smart move from RW that one.

Don't look good.
Anyone want to help me trawl through the Sydney court lists to find him?
I believe the original court case was in Queensland (Southport)

| Players like Rangi Chase are made for the big occasion (Danny Brough in the NL1 grand final anyone?) so if he is denied the chance to do what he does best against the biggest club in Yorkshire in Castleford Tigers biggest chance in a decade at the CC final then there is no justice.
Still no news from the club website which makes me think there are a few mind games going on here or at least I hope thats all it is!
IMO Chase will start against Leeds.

Assuming that this court appearance, if there is one, relates to the assault charge in 2008 then the Sydney court lists are irrelevant. The incident happened on the Gold Coast and it would therefore be heard in the Queensland courts. Rangi wouldn't be flying to Sydney to answer this charge, another bit of accurate reporting from the Sun.
As someone else has already posted, the original hearing was in Southport Magistrates Court and it follows, therefore, that any subsequent hearing would be in either Southport District Court or Brisbane Supreme Court. The lists are now online for Thursday 4 August and still no mention of Rangi, as there hasn't been all week.
Something decidedly fishy about this whole story if you ask me.
