| In League Express Clark states his reasons to want away. He wants to play in a top 4 side (Warrington ? or Hudds ?) with the chance of winning SL or CC. He also isn't happy that he has been overlooked for the England Knights team and intimates that playing with Cas Tigers has stiffled this.
I'd personally let him go if the price is right. He has made his intentions clear.

| Quote: The Biffs Back "Daryll Clarke is the best up and coming 9 in the country without a doubt and would be starting 9 at any club other than Saints IMO
Quite a bold move by Clarke in handing in a transfer IMO as his sole scource of income at present is by being paid by the Tigers is it not?
He's obviously not too worried about being left without his current income streams then should no SL / NRL clubs be interested in him then ?
Obviously he has been made an offer that he can't refuse but as he is under a long term contract at your club then at least you should receive some decent compensation just like the Bulls will for Bateman
If true then the Wolves supremo Moran is intent on BUYING all the best talented junior players regardless if they're under contract or not because he can afford it'"
He wouldnt start ahead of M.Monas at wire , McIlorum at wigan , or even Houghton at Hull.

Sounds a bit like the position Shenton claimed to find himself in a while back...(other than the England selection). Do we flog Clark....and then buy him back again when he realizes the grass ain't that much greener, just like we've done with Shenton?

| If the lad is unhappy I've no problem with him asking for a transfer...it's how he reacts to being told he can't have one that matters and we probably wont really find that out until he starts playing again. I remember John Joyner playing some stinkers while he angled for a move but Cas refused to sell and he went on to become the model (one)clubman.

| Clarke is nowhere near Shenton's proven position at the time he went - Clarke has huge potential, but a lot of players do.
I actually think he has shown some naivety because getting fit and continuing the blaze the trail he did through to Easter next season would have seen his value catapulted beyond the terms talked of now, he has gone off greedy (or his agent) and if his current deal is woefully under-value, then his advisers need to take that responsibility becuase the ink is barely dry on that deal.
Poor decision making on a few parties - but on this occasion not the club; what else can they do but commit players to longer term deals, balance allowing some players to go like Arundel, in return for protecting the contracts of the like of Clarke, Milner, Chase and facilitating the signings of Shenton.

| If I am being honest, Milner should be your starting Hooker. Clark imo is a bench hooekr to come on and rip teams up. But Milner will take you forward. Clark would be a loss but if he doesn't want to be there then Cas need to blood a new hooker to back Milner up.

We do. We have an abundance of young hookers coming through. Next one in line, and tipped for a big future too, is Casey Canterbury.

| I've not read through all the posts so this may have already been said? But:
Well done to Cas and the board for turning down this transfer request, it's about time that clubs stood up to the players agents and said NO otherwise contracts are rapidly going to become worthless. Even if it was my club who had wanted to approach him it's great for the game they were turned down. Again a big WELL DONE!!

| What surprises me about the Clark transfer situation , is that he signed a 4 year deal only at the end of last season, if he wanted to get away surely he shouldnt have signed a deal with Cas. I think there is more to meet the eye that what he states as his reasons. they were valid last year weren't they. I think certain personnel at Cas could have a bearing on this one. Like they have with a lot of players.
We never heard any nonsense about the whole team disliking the gentlemanly terry matterson, who IMO was a true gent and very professional and is sadly missed.
I am afraid the appointment of Millward has been a disaster.

| Matterson might have been a gentleman but he was a pushover...how many times did people see the Cas players in xscape getting ed on a friday night or before or two days before a match. Millward - who is an idiot at times (Mathers debacle) takes a more proffesional outlook by putting a 72=hour curfew on drinking before a game...the players obviously don't want it and we have a revolt on our hands simple.

TBH, the way I see contracts really is a 'win win' situation for the player. The club themselves use it as a marketing tool to say Player A has pledged their future to the club etc etc. But in reality it offers the player security of his playing conditions and pay, but for the club it would do little more that add some security of being paid out if another club wanted to buy a player whilst still under an active contract.
So in terms of why would Clark sign a long contract and then request a transfer so early into the contract??...Well why not? The player has nothing to lose, and potentially many things to gain! Forget about the loyalty side of things, sadly loyalty barely exists in today's game at any level.

And we have exactly that now, a worse defence, a worse attack and players wanting out. Bring back Box all is forgiven.
