I don't think hauraki is a terrible signing for you guys.

Think he has decent go forward but seems to knock on a fair bit and have the odd defensive lapse.

I wouldn't want him at wakey as with Ali, Kirmond, Moriano along with our young promising forwards trout and Walshaw we are well stocked in that position and he isn't needed.

I think he may be an improvement on what you have this season but to say he is good is stretching out a bit.

That said, he should be given his chance in a new environment before been rubbished.

Not wanting a willy measuring contest but come on. I think Mariano has a bit to go but he's proved very capable this year and is still fairly young - he's developing well IMO. Southern has had a poor season as has Hauraki, however unlike Hauraki Southern had 130 NRL games to his name, so he's far from sh*te I'd say.

I can only go on what I've seen of Hauraki and I'm not impressed, however he may do well for you and had he signed for us he'd have got my support.

I'd have Mariano every day of the week, plus he's English as well, which is an added bonus.

Had Wakey not re-signed him, I would have hoped we'd have looked at him - he'd have fit in well.

Hauraki will be a good signing for Cas. We need some more mobile, physical backrowers and it places competition on Thompson, Millington, Holmes and Gilmour to up their game. A good mix of English/Overseas/Youth/Experience in that back line.

In the context of players we can reasonably be expected to afford/attract I would say Hauraki is a decent signing and if he regains his Crusaders form he will be a damned good one.

Do you really care NGBC, really? If so, yes. Backrowers out - Snitch, Jones, Ferres, Davies. Backrowers in - Gilmour, Hauraki. I would think having say 5, at a pinch, is an improvement on 3 wouldn't you? Plus, have you seen Lee Mitchell?
