Cant understand Cas having a hearing so quick if the police are involved so that looks like good news there.
Most clubs wait until after court action so im expecting no further action re police,just my view on things mind.
Be interesting if it is bad and Cas keep him after the Haywood episode.

Shhhhhhhhhhh, I think it's a rumour that the police are involved.

In general terms, whenever a disciplinary investigation and a police investigation coincide over the same issue (for example an employee caught with their hand in the till) the disciplinary investigation will be deferred until the police investigation is concluded; that's often at the request of the police. I'm not sure it's a requirement, but it probably is good practice.

Hoping the gossip is a case of the "Chinese Whispers"... and the inquiry by the club is a new, tough stance by the club and coach and a warning about conduct to other squad members.

Have there been any reports in the press prior to Cas announcing the internal hearing? I'm not aware of any but it might explain why Cas would announce the fact they are holding an internal hearing.

Alternatively, the incident was so cut and dry that the police concluded their investigation in short order and now Cas are free to carry out their own internal procedure (which I'm available to help with, at very reasonable rates!)

If he has done something wrong then he should be treated like anyone else in this situation, but there are lots of questions that make a difference to the outcome.
Was he attacked and just defending himself
Were the other guys too drunk to stand up?
Did they give Owen a belt too it just happens that he can punch harder.

It's not enough for the forum jury to convict yet.

My only issue is, what was he doing there. As a pro rugby player he should really be out drinking day before a game. I assume he wasn't playing, but there is an image question rather than physical fitness after drinking.
He'd be better going somewhere quieter, or where he isn't known.....but that's just me.
