| Quote pyeman="pyeman"What english players are first choice at hull kr then?'"
First choice? Matter of opinion I suppose.
But in our final regular season game of 2011 against...Castleford.......the Hull KR team featured 9 English born players.
In season 2012 HullKR will have 32 full time players 27 of whom are eligible to play for England.
One who isn't will be Con Mika.......but who knows if he stays with us for 2 years 9 months maybe he'll be in the England frame too just like someone else we know.
Look I'm not having a go at anyone here but don't you think that if you have an issue it is with the RFL ? If they are going to let players represent England after 2 years 9 months then they can hardly object to the same players being in Super League.
Basically Hull KR have a mix of Hull born players (17 of them in 2012) and overseas born players. We don't have many West Yorks or Lancs players but so what? There's plenty of clubs in those parts for those players to choose from.
I can promise you that the Hull KR youth system is starting to produce a whole load of fantastic young players. We started from scratch 5 years ago, loads of time effort and money has been pumped into it and it is now starting to bear fruit.
Prior to that we had no chance whatsoever. We had been in the lower leagues for over a decade so guess where the best local youngsters went to even Hull KR fans like Richard Horne & Paul Cooke?
No more though. Look we all admire the youth production system at Cas and it is something we aspire to. Rome wasn't built in a day but in the meantime we wanted to establish ourselves in Super League and we have done.
Good luck for 2012 you have a good coach in Ian Millward and I'm sure you'll do OK.

This might be the case, but my worry is that these "fantastic young players" will never get a shot at being a first-team regulars owing to the number of overseas players HKR sign, therefore restricting their developlment and opportunities for improvement.

His info would be correct as they were all born overseas and therefore not English, correct?

Hull Fc were the only team NOT to give 1 youngster a SL debut last season,
Think you'll find that we gave debuts to Louis Sheriff,Rich Beaumont and Jordan Cox.
In answer to earlier question,-
English players who played regular for us last year were,
Shaun Briscoe,
Sam Latus,
Kris Welham,
Ben Cockayne,
Craig Hall,
Liam Colbon,
Scott Wheeldon,
Josh Hodgson,
Scott Taylor,
Jason Netherton,
Liam Watts,
Scott Murrell,
Jordan Cox(back end of the season)

Mulder's reply to pyeman is correct Hull KR never had more than 8 overseas players registered to play last season.
Fisher, Vella, Webster, Green, Galea, Newton, Clinton, Dobson or Mason.
Rhys Lovegrove is home grown

Think the reason Hull KR are getting it in the neck here about an abundance of overseas players is purely and simply cos you signed an overseas player that we were hoping to get.
ATEOD as Cas fans we shouldn't give a tuppeny fig about how many overseas players other clubs have in their squads unless they're a boat load of NRL star players which clearly Hull KR aren't.

The fact they're not NRL stars makes it doubly worse, mate. They are taking up spots that English players could be doing.

Agreed and if it was happening at Cas I would be complaining but all we can do is get our house in order and leave other clubs to worry about their own.
Cas embraced the idea that 3 year franchises mean you don't need to look for short term solutions in the form of mediocre overseas players. It seems Hull KR aren't prepared to let go of that safety blanket just yet...

2 conditions for me:
Are they good enough
Do the qualify
Rangi Chase is both better than anything else England can put out at halfback and also qualifies, so that is completely fine for me, if it was someone like Nick Youngquest for example I wouldn't be so happy.

I'm fine with it. He's proven that he's one of the best players in the competition and he's better than the halves currently available for England. In that instance, you're adding quality to the player pool. Plus, I agree with Steve Mc that he's not blocking the path of youngsters. He's adding to the pool, driving up standards and improving THEIR game at the same time.
