You were dominating the play because Mr.Thaler (who by the way hates Castleford and always screws us over) gave you everything going,.'"
Really?
The man is useless as a ref i.m.o. He was crap for both sides, some of his decisions were a bit wierd to say the least. Not often I agree with Justin Morgan, but he got into hot water with his comments about Thaler.I had to agree with him.

Anyone know the penalty count? How many Cas players were put in the bin? How many forward passes were given against Cas compared to Hull? How many times were Cas penalised for offside compared to Hull? If anyone thinks the referee was the reason Hull won the game they are quite clearly barking. The Hull pack was completely dominant and if anything the scoreline flattered Cas.
All the best for the rest of the season though and thanks for the hospitality, always enjoy coming to Cas and today was no exception.

| I think that comments about not taking opportunities..spilling ball...could have....ought to have ....etc are not quite in context with what happened out there today. Both teams played quite well, both teams spilled the ball, for which only the players of both teams are to blame.
However, as per Terry's comments....the game was spoilt be the man in the middle. As a result it wasn't half the game it could have been for the fans to enjoy.
It was shaping up to be a belter of a game, great atmosphere in both crowds (as it always is against FC)..however, sadly it was spoilt in exactly the same way Thaler did earlier in the year when we played Warrington.
If you want a great game turned into a joke, Thaler is your man!!! He can't help making himself the main talking point of the game!! Did anyone else note the way he held the ball in the air above his head as he walked onto the pitch in a 'look at me' style.....not good!!

| Quote: tigerman10 "As unpopular as this may be i think were it not for Goldy we would probbably have won today once again we saw him throw out a match winning ball for the opposition and were that not bad enough he did his damdest to do the same thing again about 10 minutes later. Untill we get rid of people like goldy and the 5 minute wonder sargent there is nothing for us what so ever'"
That is one of the most ridiculous comments I have ever read on here.
Goldy was forced to make that pass because of the lack of organisation throughout the line of attack. Each pass was forced because the attacking line was not set, every time a player turned to pass another player was in his face and in the way. That is the attacking lines problem NOT the person passing the ball.
As for Thaler, why do people expect any different? the referees as a whole are diabolical. This is down to Stuart Cummings, since he took over the standard of refereeing has dramatically dropped. Thaler should have had the balls to sin bin a Hull player earlier than what he did (he had enough opportunities) and take back control and calm the play down. He didn't do this and it boiled over.
Sarge has been off the pace since he returned from Oz, he was clearly injured when he hobbled off just before half time. Widders, as i've said in a different thread had a good game and was our stand out player, however, he needs to run straight. Twice he had a clear run to the line and didn't back himself, he came on the inside and got tackled.
Hull had quite a bit of luck today, but on the flip side we were lucky that they dropped the ball when they did. Otherwise they could of had another 4 or 5 tries. We, at times, were de-void of ideas. We seem to "go to sleep" for periods of the game, periods that are costing us points and chances to win the game, I largely think this is due to fitness of the players and maybe the mental attitude where they think they have the game sewn up (Quins game a prime example)
It was a spirited performance with some lacks of concentration that inevitably cost us the game. I really sometimes do wonder what Matterson says in his team talks because it is second half performances that are costing us recently. First half i thought we just edged it which showed in the scoreline. Second half Hull were more agressive but i felt that at 34-16 the score flattered Hull quite a bit, so I'm glad we made it more respectable.
At the end of the day it's all if's and but's. It's over now we need to move on and concentrate on getting points elsewhere

| I will say Casman that it did seem at times that our players had Lurpak on their fingers near the line, but I will forgive them,as it was hot and the fingers must have been slippery.

| A decent player would have taken a tackle? is that a joke? seriously some people need to lose their black and amber specs.
The attacking line should have been set and not bunched together forcing players with the ball to make silly errors. We were caught out a few times bunched together resulting in us dropping the ball, forcing passes etc etc.
This is basic stuff that we are not dealing with during the game. I think some of it is down to fitness where we are too tired to even set a line properly and also down to lack of practice of basic rugby (ie. passing, catching, kicking) in training, something which is costing us a lot in recent games.

no mate i think yours is the most ridiculous post i have ever read, how the hell was he forced to pass the ball to sean long or to yeaman (i think it was), it all comes down to the man being a liabilty and people like you not being able to see the wood for the trees. as i said i Knew it would be an unpopular post but never mind, you just carry on blameing the ref and bemoaning our bad luck or you could face facts that we have too many over paid players who are pinching money.

Did you even read my post correctly? because it appears you didn't. I never blamed the ref, if you read my post you will see this.
McGoldrick has a very big problem with one on one tackles, he also has a problem in forcing passes to people who are stood next to him. I'm not sure whether he thinks the player next to him should be the dummy runner and the player doesn't realise this, or whether Goldy thinks they are 30 metres away from him. Twice he forced the pass when it just needed a simple ball and we would have been over.
See my post above yours for the reason I think he was forced to make this pass.
Goldy can be a very good asset to a team when he wants to play, when he doesn't then he has a shocker, we need to find consistency from him. However this could be down to coaching, maybe a different coach would get the best out of him...

| I didn't think there was that much between the teams to be honest. We both had spells where the ref seemed to be giving us everything as well. On the day we just executed slightly better but by no means dominated you.
Enjoyed the day and a cracking atmosphere as usual, the rugby could have been to a higer standard though.

Ok the attacking line wasn't great, I'll admit that. However, a player is never 'forced' to pass!!! Maybe if it's the last few minutes of the game and you need a score...yes then you are 'forced' to pass and keep the ball alive.
Why couldn't he run at the line? Take a man on? Go into the tackle and control the ball for a quick play etc. Grubber it through!! He's been having a good season so far, however for a player worthy of McGoldrick's pay packet the options more than just a forced flat pass!
The whole world and their dog could see Longy waiting to intercept. The pass he tried to make was outragsously badly timed, like a school boy panicing. Longy had the time to lick a stamp and put the ball in an envelope...the whole Wheldon Road end gasped and could see what was about to happen, and it did. He hasn't got the nickname 'Flat pass McGoldrick' for nothing.
Forced to pass....c'mon, we had Thaler for laughs today!!

Had the line been set correctly then there wouldnt have been a gap for Longy to walk through.... It also might have gone to one of our players too!

The differences between attacking and defensive lines, offer very little from which the attacking team can do to defend against their own telegraphed pass in to the hands of the opposition....other than stop, turn and chase. We got caught out by Briers with a beauty a few weeks ago!
For me it was plain and simply a bad option whopper of a panic pass.
