| The only bugbear I have with TM is discipline. This is something that has been lacking for a while and is probably a reflection of his 'buddy' approach to coaching. I think many of the other factors effecting our progress are out of his hands.
He comes across as a nice bloke. As a result, he probably hasn't the personality to clamp down and erradicate a lot of the ill-discipline that has seen us on the wrong end of 1-5 point winning margins (more so last year).
Can/will this change while he's in charge? I'm not so sure. Is it reason alone to go a different direction? Tough one.

| Blame cannot completely lay with TM there are other factors, like the ones mentioned with whether he was given the money to improve the side or not.
Defence and discipline are our biggest faults, and possibly not killing games off when we have the chance (Wire and HKR are prime examples of this)
The biggest problem i have with TM is letting personal battles and his unknown dislike for youngsters dictate the squad, Damien Blanch, Keith Mason, Ben Gledhill, Michael Knowles, Ryan Boyle etc etc etc, the list is never ending

| I love this:
On the one hand: Terry is to much of a mate with players.
Yet the evidence of Mason etc shows that he's firm on who's in charge.
Oh, that's because he lets personal dislikes get in the way.

Well falling out with players isn't the same as disciplining them is it?

| Quote: Cecil B "We were well beaten by a side that was bigger, faster and more skilful.
Many of the more realistic supporters predicted we would fail to make the play-offs and probably finish about 10th on prior to the season beginning. We're currently in 11th and if we win on Friday will be up to 10th.
Last season a number of sides that looked better on paper finished below us because they underperformed (Warrington, Bradford) or were hit with loads of injuries (Hull).
Unless Matterson has been given the money to improve the squad in the off season and chose not to do so I can't see how you can blame him for the current position we find ourselves in.'"
And there you have the problem. The mentality of our fans are unreal.
We're 11th thats ok, bradford and wire should be above us while the likes of wakefield, hull kr, huddeersfield etc. etc. make big strides at overtaking the big 4. Lets be happy with 11th though

You completely misinterpreted what i meant
If it is true that Terry is a soft touch and too much of "one of the lads" then he needs to grow up and take charge
Not playing someone and/or getting rid of them is completely different, that's suiting your own needs rather than the team/club/fans etc. That's not being firm of who's in charge that's being childish and selfish

| Well, I'll be doing the 140 mile round trip to a home game again on Friday. I wont stop going.
As for yesterday. They were a better team and their dubious tactics are working well.
Anyway, my thoughts were that the players who make up the bulk of our squad arent up to it really which is where our problem lies. We simply had too many passengers yesterday to win the game. Too few have an impact.
We missed our injured players for sure but we have about 6 or 7 in the squad who are not SL standard. That is true of most squads to be fair, but my issue, and only concern with TM is how the likes of Watts and Gleadhill are prospering elsewhere and were not nurtured at our club. Thats a major worry.
As for rumours of "turning up drunk" and "trouble down the lane" thats all because we lost. Having been at 3 pro clubs its always the case, and means little to me. Lots happens behind the scenes but it certainly doesnt mean crisis. Our effort yesterday suggests there is no evidence to suggest TM has lost the team.
They just arent good enough to beat teams like that.

Have wakefield banned all there players from drinking? a couple of them could have easily got themselves in trouble if thats the case. I dont think they have, the incident with sculthorpe was for drinking on the team bus home as i was told by a wakey fan and involved two players not one.

He must have changed his ways dramatically then coz there was a hell of a drinking culture at Hull during his reign.

I don't think they have, its just about the right time to have a drink and enjoy yourself.
Danny Brough and Scully, both no longer with us.
Anyway sorry for butting in.

Complete rubbish
Go up Wakefield after they have had a game. They are out every week. I should know, I've been drinking with them lots of times before, including Bradford players (Langley etc)

Its not 'metality' its 'reality'. We are a small town club who average 7000ish fans a week not 10000+, and we dont have somebody running the club who is prepared to invest their own personal fortune in paying players wages.
For whatever finacial reasons Cas have reigned in their spending on players wages this season - not being privvy to the state of their accounts or current finances I couldnt speculate why.
However the end result is, as Cecil B has quite rightly pointed out. We performed well last year finishing in the top 8 because of some good performances and also because some of the bigger better teams in the league under performed. It would apear that this will probably not happen again this season, meaning we will probably finish around 9 or 10th.
Still lets not let the facts get in the way of slating TM and making it all his fault. Ask yourself this if TM was fired tomorrow and Jesus was signed to replace him in time for Fridays game, with the players at his disposal and presuming he wouldnt be playing himself, do you think Jesus would do any better?
As I said 'reality' not 'mentality'.
