Yep I'll be finding a pub to watch it in. Can't justify spending 10 hours sat in a car on my birthday so an all day beer session it is!

| Quote: Tiger_69 "As it's my first year going, could anybody let me know how expensive it is up there? and can anyone suggest a decent pub or is it best off just going straight into the ground?'" I managed to wax six hundred quid. Granted we spent three days there, and that includes accomodation. We drinking from morning to night as well. Beer is about what you expect to pay in a large touristy city, except in the ground where it reaches a whole other level. You will need to get a taxi from city centre, iirc it was about twelve quid. There aren't any other pubs near the ground so go up when you are ready to stay there for the day.
There are loads of decent pubs in the city head for the Grassmarket, that is where most other rugby fans were. Good atmosphere.

Sadly, one of the pitfalls of Edinburgh is that most/all of the city centre pubs do not allow any children in. Hence, if you have any children in your group you may have to stay in the hotel lobby bar if you want a beer whilst watching the game. As a family game this will be a very off putting factor for many!
As a result of this and many other factors, I'm expecting overall attendance of the games to be down on last year. I would be very surprised if the RFL don't have to manipulate the attendance figures even more than usual this year!
As a family man, it gonna be a Pub and a big screen in Cas for me I'm affraid!!

That together with the "colours rule" in some pubs makes Edinburgh less special. Take it back to Cardiff!

How about having it in the Midlands next time?
Maybe Villa park? Maybe even Notts Forests ground?

| Villa park is a tidy ground and Birmingham city centre has been redeveloped, thing is would the Lancashire teams just do day trips in?
While Nottingham has good nightlife the City ground is no better than Elland road and has the city got a high crime rate?.
Think Newcastle would be ideal, St James park is within walking distance of the city centre, plenty of pubs and restaurants.
Also accomadation wouldn't be a problem in the area, and great nightlife

| Problem with Newcastle and Birmingham is they are not tourist places so would there be enough hotel spaces for the influx of 40,000 rugby fans.

With Newcastle you have all of the North East for places to stay as well as the city...Durham,Whitley Bay,North and South Shields etc
Then there is Northumberland if you want to stay in areas more picturesque
