My view entirely!
I won't hold my breath (much as others on here would want me too!)

| I'm guessing a retailer is paying the short fall for new stadium In exchange for Cas to drop it's planning permit for Glasshoughton , in which case the retailer would have to be successful with it's planning app at GH as well as our Planning app at new location . It could take a long time.

| Well signed up after not using my old account for a long time and couldnt get back on with it.
Dont want to put a dampener on this with first post, but isn't that area riddled with Sand Mines making it unsuitable to build on? or is that just part of it?.
rlhttps://www.wyorksgeologytrust.org/lgssheets/wakefield/Holywell%20Wood,%20Glass%20Houghton.pdfrl
Can someone clarify where we stand with this, or is it not in that area where the proposed build is?

| I've got to say I'm not a big fan of the site for any development if I'm honest. Whilst it may not be rolling meadows or a wood where people can really enjoy the outdoors, it is the last little bit of land next to the M62 up there and with the old pit site being developed the other side I think it's important that we don't end up with a 'develop at all costs' strategy that see's the merging of towns to the point where there are no clear boundaries other than the M62. There are other issues too, which I'm sure will be addressed at any public consultations, but what does another development of this size mean for the town centre?
I try not to be for or against anything until I have all the information, but my gut feeling is that this is not the best site for development, though I accept it might be the best chance of Cas achieving a new stadium. Tough times/decisions ahead for all involved I fear.

| Its interesting that the media are reporting that the site for the "new stadium" isn't the one described in the letter of last week but the previous site from 2011 to the rear of Xscape.
Once again though, I'm not holding my breath and I'll believe it when I park in the car park for the first game to be held there.

| Strange that the Pont & Cas Express is reporting that the proposed ground is on the land as per the letter but other media sites are saying that its the previous site.
Maybe we're having two!

| I think it's just another piece of "lazy journalism" to be honest. The bigger papers won't have as good an understanding of the area nor the will to actually get it right. Sound bites over substance in this day and age I'm afraid.

| Congratulations on the new home. I will look forward to visiting you there, although I will miss the atmosphere at Wheldon Road.

You will have a long wait. This new Cas stadium has been going on since they first built the free port and it's still only a pipe dream.

| I gaurantee you this one will happen. As long as planning through Wakefield council goes through. Money is not an issue this time. The only thing that is is the planning process. Just like I mentioned it would hold 10,000 and also a retail park.
Big if with planning though as the land is green belt I've been told from somebody.

| It is Green Belt, but a precedent has been set, as far as the Wakefield Council and stadium proposals go. What's good for the Goose etc!

| Do they have to get a supermarket signed up like the last proposal? We all know how that went last time.
